Healthpoint Pediatrics opened its doors in 2004 in Tyrone by Dr. Marat Plotkin. He was motivated to open his own practice after providing ER services at Atlanta’s Scottish Rite and his goal was to provide an atmosphere in which parents are not rushed and are given time to discuss their children’s health with him. The Tyrone Town Council is on its way to adopting the $3.085 million FY 2010-2011 budget by the end of June. Expected decreased property tax revenues are being offset by 3 percent departmental reductions and the transfer of $136,000 from the reserve account. The 2.89 millage rate is expected to remain unchanged.

The council Thursday continued the discussion of the proposed General Fund budget that totals $3,085,674. That amounts to a $45,005 increase, or 1.5 percent, over the current year. Read More»

Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone will hold its annual Chick-N-Que this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $7.50 each.

There will also be a bake sale where desserts may be purchased to go with the meal.

The meal consists of half a barbecued chicken, slaw, baked beans, bread, and iced tea.

An employee of a Palmetto Road business and a customer of another were both bitten Monday afternoon by a fox that was subsequently killed by Tyrone police officers responding to the scene. Those bitten were treated at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. Read More»
