Dienhart: As mayor, will lower taxes, prevent Hwy. 54 light

Bloom announces candidacy for Post 4

I moved to Peachtree City from Portland, Ore., in February 2009 and this has got to be one of the best communities I have lived in. However, there are several things the city has got to address. Two big ones are aesthetics and traffic around the intersection of Ga. highways 54 and 74.

Since we bought our house in 2009, I have seen our city’s aesthetics deteriorate. If you ask people who have lived here 10 years or more, they all say things are looking much worse than before. Read More»

PTC says ‘no’ for now to Bradshaw 54E annexation

A request to explore the annexation of a 28-acre site off Ga. Highway 54 East got a soft “no” from the Peachtree City Council Thursday night.

While council members agreed they were interested in looking at adding the parcel to the city limits, the preference is to look at the bigger picture and what other parcels in the area might also be good candidates for annexation. Council voted 4-0 to deny a “step 1” annexation request, which formally denied the landowner, the Bradshaw family, from trying to work out a plan with city staff. Read More»

PTC says OK to 2-year sales tax

The Peachtree City Council decided Thursday night that it is on board with asking residents to approve a one-percent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax for a two-year period. Running for Boston

Members of the Peachtree City Running Club met Wednesday evening for a run in memory of the victims from Monday’s bombing of the Boston Marathon. Following a moment of silence, club members took to the city’s path system for a quiet run. Several club members ran in the marathon but none was hurt during the two explosions that took place near the finish line, killing three people and injuring more than 170 others. Photo/John Munford.

PTC Garden Tour May 4 features lush landscapes

The Fayette County Master Gardener Association, made up of master gardener Extension volunteers with the University of Georgia Extension Service, will conduct the annual plant sale and garden tour Saturday, May 4. Hundreds of plants for flower and vegetable gardening as well as landscaping will be available. The plant sale will offer flowers, shrubs, herbs, vegetables, and trees, many of which are native plants, for purchase. Read More»

McIntosh sweeps rival tilt with Starrs Mill

Ball control was the name of the game for McIntosh as they beat Starr's Mill 3-0 Friday night at home with Salomon Lorenzano (#15) scoring the first goal of the night.

The McIntosh boys soccer team kept its perfect season intact, on the heels of a big 2-0 win for the girls squad as they faced off Friday night in home matches against cross-town rival Starr's Mill High School. Read More»

David Neil Saylor, 36, of Peachtree City, lost his battle with cancer on April 16, 2013.

He graduated from McIntosh High School in 1994. He attended Wingate University, where he played on the men's varsity soccer team and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity, graduating in 1999. He worked as a crisis counselor in the residential behavioral health program at KidsPeace. He was also a valued player on the Majestic Soccer Team in Atlanta. Read More»
