WWII Heritage Days keeps the spirit alive this weekend in PTC

Experience the sights and sounds of the Greatest Generation when the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Dixie Wing hosts the tenth annual “WWII Heritage Days” April 27-28. Satyen Guha-Biswas of Peachtree City

Satyen Guha-Biswas of Peachtree City died on April 13, 2013 at the age of 81. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Inge; daughter & son-in-law, Porscha & Douglas Ober; son, Dr. Michael Biswas; grandchildren Calvin, Christina, and Alexandria, a brother and a sister in India, and a brother in London. 

Satyen was born in Patna, India. He had 5 brothers and one sister. Satyen went  to the prestigious  Bengal Engineering College on a scholarship and graduated in 1955 in Civil Engineering. He participated in sports for his college and was famous for winning many prizes.  Read More»

Shepherd’s Flock Singers at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will present “What’s Up, Zak?” on Saturday, Apr. 27 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Apr. 28 at 11 a.m. The musical tells two Biblical stories, the healing of Blind Bartimaeus and the conversion of Zacchaeus, a despised tax collector. PTC Presbyterian preschool plans open house, art show

First Presbyterian Kindergarten and Preschool will host an Open House and Art Show on Thursday, April 25 from 5 – 7 p.m. Students will display their artistic creations in the classrooms and hallways. First Presbyterian Kindergarten and Preschool is located at 206 Willowbend Rd., Peachtree City.

Blood drive planned at Holy Trinity April 29

Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus at 101 Walt Banks Road in Peachtree City will sponsor an American Red Cross Blood Drive Monday, April 29, from noon to 6 p.m. in Loreta Hall.

The drive is open to people of all faith. During the period of April 1 to June 30, 2013, all donors of blood and platelets will be automatically entered to win one of three $1,000 gift cards. Read More»

The Peachtree City Seventh Day Adventist Church will host a Power Pac Youth Rally with Seth Pierce Friday and Saturday, April 26-27. SPLOST saves our core infrastructure

We have the go-ahead from the larger municipalities to begin creating the project lists for the two-year Core Infrastructure Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) plan.

We held three well-attended townhall meetings on the county’s stormwater concerns. The first order of business for the county is replacing aging culvert infrastructure and maintaining secure accounts for future maintenance so we do not get into another debacle like the one we are in now, 40 years in the making. Haddix: PTC needs an annexation plan

I believe the citizens deserve more information on the Future Land Use Plan than has been given in The Citizen as of April 20. This is an extremely important matter that is not going away.

Besides SPLOST, what are other options?

The two-year 1 percent Special Local Option Sales Tax being considered by Fayette County and the cities of Peachtree City, Fayetteville, Tyrone, Brooks, and Woolsey may not be THE perfect solution to cover the costs of repairing and maintaining our aging countywide road systems, but what are the alternatives?

We simply cannot ignore the problem and hope it will go away. We have to maintain our roads and aging infrastructure. Read More»
