PTC to Fayette: 'Give us $1.8 million for Crosstown turn lanes, gateway bridge on 54W'

Thursday night the Peachtree City Council voted unanimously to petiton the Fayette County Board of Commissioners for funding help for two big-budget transportation projects. The city wants help making improvements to the intersection of Peachtree Parkway and Crosstown Road, and with building a new “gateway” cart path bridge across Ga. Guest speaker will provide historical sketch of Korean War

The featured speaker at Peachtree City’s 2010 Veterans Day commemoration no doubt subscribes to the adage that a nation which does not know its history is doomed to repeat it.

McIntosh play wins region, going to state

The McIntosh drama department has staged their production of “Bang, Bang, You’re Dead,” a few times now, (there is a free performance, donations accepted, tonight at the school at 7 p.m.), and the show always gets an emotional reaction.

“We haven’t had a show where people didn’t cry,” said McIntosh drama teacher, Tanya Gruber. “It reaches people of all ages in very different ways. Kids can empathize with characters who feel that no one is listening and parents can see elements of their relationships in the ones presented in the show.” Read More»

PTC police hosting Facebook, online safety seminar

The Peachtree City Police Department is offering a class on online safety, particularly as it relates to the uber-popular social networking site Facebook.

The class will focus on features on Facebook and elsewhere online that can enhance safety and security, officials said. The class will be held Thursday, Nov. 18 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the police department.

In addition to an overview of safety and security features, there will also be a question and answer session to discuss all online and Internet-related topics, officials said. Read More»

PTC to seek 54W landscaping grant

To fund landscaping along Ga. Highway 54 West, Peachtree City is going for the green. Dollars, that is.

Thursday night the Peachtree City Council approved submission of a grant application to fund a significant part of the cost for the landscaping. The project would start at the intersection with Ga. Highway 74 and go westward to the city limits. Read More»

Outgoing PTC city manager to ask council to appoint interim manager

With current City Manager Bernie McMullen retiring at the end of the year, the Peachtree City Council may be selecting an interim city manager at its regular meeting Thursday night.

McMullen’s last day is scheduled to be Dec. 31 after council accepted his resignation via a separation agreement at its Oct. 21 meeting.

McMullen is recommending the appointment of an interim city manager whom he can brief on “current issues,” which will ostensibly create a smoother transition. Read More»
