Rep. Ramsey: Attacks on longtime Rep. Yates raise laughable non-issues

It is the home stretch in the 2010 election season and this is the time when candidates begin to say and do strange things in the hopes of winning office.

Just this week, I read with a mix of disdain and amusement the attack on my good friend and state House colleague Representative John Yates by his Democratic opponent.

Reserve Greek appetizers for holiday entertaining

St. Christopher Hellenic Orthodox Church Philoptochos Society (Friends of the Poor) will hold its annual Greek Appetizers and Pastry Sale just in time for holiday entertaining.

Seminar set for those suffering ‘losses’

Peachtree City UMC will sponsor a “Surviving the Holidays” seminar Tuesday, Oct. 26, from 7-9 p.m.

The seminar is for both those that have lost a loved one and those that have experienced a divorce. The two seminars will be separate but run at the same time.

Seminar topics range from “what to do about traditions” to “how to handle invitations to parties and other gatherings.” Tips and ideas will be given by professionals in the field.

Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Woods of Peachtree City announce the engagement of their daughter, Jill Maria Woods, to Dwayne Hulon Tew, son of Ms. Dianne Tew of Slocomb, Ala.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Samford University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in radiologic sciences. Mr. Lawrence "Larry" K. Whalley, 77, of Peachtree City

Mr. Lawrence "Larry" K. Whalley, of Peachtree City, died October 8, 2010.

He was born in Danvers, MA on December 19, 1932. He enjoyed a career as a pilot in the United States Air Force, serving for a year in Vietnam. After retiring from the Air Force, he flew for FedEx for 20 more years. He enjoyed traveling, skiing, golfing, and spending time with his family. Read More»

Mr. Christopher Allan Renfroe, 35, of Peachtree City

Mr. Christopher Allan Renfroe, 35, of Peachtree City, passed away on October 7, 2010. Mr. Renfroe enjoyed collecting knives, baseball cards and cigars. He practiced judo, loved bodybuilding, as well as riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by his parents, Larry and Linda Renfroe, of Fayetteville ; his brother Chuck Renfroe and his wife Erin of Jefferson, TN; his sister April Renfroe of Fayetteville ; his grandmother Betty Scoggins of Newport , TN ; as well as several nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved. Read More»

Great Georgia Airshow takes off at PTC's Falcon Field

The crowds poured into Falcon Field in Peachtree City over the weekend to take in the one-of-a-kind sights and sounds at the 2010 Great Georgia Airshow.
