Booth secures third win at National Science Olympiad

The Science Olympiad team at J.C. Booth beat their fourth place finish from last year, making them one of the top three ranked teams in the nation.

The contest accepts thousands of entries each year. 'Gator' caution urged at Lake Kedron

Officials: don’t feed it; if you spot it take a photo and call Ga. DNR

A ranger with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources was unable to locate an alligator that has been reported at Lake Kedron, Peachtree City officials said.

The ranger toured the lake on a boat Thursday but the search came up empty.

However, the city is urging residents to take caution not just near the lake, but also along the city’s path system that are near lakes, streams and other bodies of water. Read More»

Mr. Bobbie Don Peacock, Sr., 77, of Peachtree City

Mr. Bobbie Don Peacock, Sr., 77, of Peachtree City, GA passed away May 24, 2011.

He was born in Soperton, GA, the son of the late William Thomas & Sara Irene Tyson Peacock. Mr. Peacock served his country in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. He was the owner/operator of M.A. Industries in Peachtree City, GA and an inventor. Mr. Peacock was a member of the Tyrone Masonic Lodge #644 F&AM, a Shriner and a member of the Fayette Shrine Club.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Deri Peacock Adams. Read More»

3 hurt in 3-car collision

This vehicle was involved in a 3-car collision May 25, 2011 on Ga. Highway 74 between Peachtree Parkway and the Peachtree City limits.

Three people were taken to the hospital after this car and two others collided in a wreck early this evening on Ga. Highway 74 between Peachtree Parkway and the Peachtree City limits.

None of the injured were suspected to have life-threatening injuries.

While this vehicle caught fire after coming to rest in the median, the other two vehicles left the road and ended up in the woodline on either side of the highway, police said.

Hwy. 74 was closed for a time in both directions, though northbound traffic resumed around 8:30 p.m.
