PTC man arrested for child molestation

Peachtree City resident David Johnson was arrested June 23 on charges of molestation and sexual battery involving a young boy, police said.

Johnson, 33, was arrested June 23 on charges of aggravated child molestation and aggravated sexual battery, according to Fairburn Detective Tiffany Hudson. Johnson was arrested by officers from Peachtree City based on warrants and turned over to Fairburn. Read More»

Lunch last week with the Speaker

Last week 25 members of various metro Atlanta tea parties received an invitation from Newt Gingrich’s staff to meet with the former Speaker. His birthday was last week and I suppose he wanted to be back in Georgia with family to enjoy it, and take the opportunity to hear from some local grassroots organizations.

All Saints Anglican’s annual music camp scheduled for July 11-15

All Saints Anglican Church in Peachtree City will conduct its annual free children’s Music Camp July 11-15. The featured theme, “Sing To The Lord A New Song,” will be evident in traditional hymns and praise songs, as well as scripture verses and messages.

Curriculum for the camp is a potpouri of music, singing, dancing, and instruction in various instruments, composition, and art. It also features contests, games and snacks. No previous experience is required. Read More»

PTCUMC to offer ‘Vacation Bible Sundays’ this summer

Vacation Bible Sundays for all ages at Peachtree City United Methodist Church start July 10 and continue through Aug 7.

A kid-centered worship will begin at 9 a.m. in the worship center. Children will enjoy crafts, games, music and Bible time. There are classes offered for all ages from babies to adults. A multitude of Bible study classes will be available for every age that comes. Youth programs for middle and high school students will be offered.

June 27 gas leak on Hwy. 74 S being plugged

A gas leak that occurred in the late morning hours June 27 after construction crews on Ga. Highway 74 South hit a gas line is expected to be repaired around noon. Motorists are asked to avoid the area until the repair is made.

Fayette County Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson Donnie Davis at 11 a.m. said the gas line was hit in the area of Hwy. 74 South between Redwine Road and Manor Drive.

Davis said gas company crews are on the way and are expected to have the line repaired near noon. Davis asked motorists to avoid the area until that time.

Troop 75 returns home to PTC with awards

Troop 75, with 44 scouts and 12 adult leaders, recently returned from summer camp at Woodruff Scout Reservation in north Georgia. The troop attained the Scouting Traditions Award as well as the distinction of Honor Troop and were the best Dining Hall Cleaning Crew while at camp. As well as working on 148 merit badges, they had a scout to complete the mile swim, three scouts to become members of the “Dime Club” on the rifle range and had a Cracker Barrel with Troop 279 of Peachtree City.
