PTC Police seminar to focus on Internet safety, gang issues

Parents of middle schoolers urged to attend, but open to all

Parents wanting to be up to speed on Internet safety and gang issues should put Tuesday, May 17 on their calendars.

That’s when the Peachtree City Police Department is offering such information in a community forum at J.C. Booth Middle School from 7-8:30 p.m.

The program is free and there is no limit to the number of people who can attend, police said. The event will take place in the school’s cafeteria. Read More»

Fifth grade student, Eric Flandermeyer, won the District Attorney's 5th annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Essay/Art Contest at Kedron Elementary School. Flandermeyer, a student in Mrs. Lynne Tait's class, wrote about the dangerous and selfless job that our police officers have. "We should honor the police" is the main thought of Flandermeyer's essay. Faulty data mask BoE’s problems

At the April 19 Fayette County Board of Education meeting, the board restored effective May 1 the remaining 3 percent of the 4.5 percent pay cut all school board employees took back in 2009. The board previously restored 1.5 percent of the pay cut in February of this year.

The March 2011 fund balance of $19.9 million was at an all-time record high and the balance may reach $21 million by the end of the fiscal year, June 30, 2011. The March balance was almost triple the average fund balance over the past several years. Read More»

Taylor, Epps ordination set for June 11 at Christ the King

Deacons Jason Epps of Senoia and James Taylor of Peachtree City will be ordained to the sacred order of Priests on Pentecost Eve, Saturday, June 11, at 5 p.m. at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Sharpsburg. The men will be ordained by The Most Rev’d David Epps, Bishop of the Diocese of the Mid-South. A reception will follow the ordination service.
