4th annual Mother’s Day Workshops at Mucklow’s Fine Jewelry

Just in time for Mother’s Day, children are invited to Mucklow’s to make a bracelet or a pendant for Mom out of sterling silver (staff are on hand to assist in the crafting). 
There will also be games, musice and a craft table for making handmade Mother’s Day cards.  This event benefits the Promise Place. The costs are: bracelets $35 and necklaces $25, while the smile on Mom’s face is free. The fees include a $10 donation from each piece to Promise Place.

The workshops will take place Saturdays, Apr. 24 and May 1 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and Sundays, Apr. 25 and May 2 from 12-3 p.m.

New rules in play for PTC vacant homes

With Peachtree City not immune to the national housing crisis and some homes going vacant for months on end, the city is preparing a way to keep track of such homes.

Under a proposal from city staff, the city would gain the ability to closely monitor the homes, in some cases being authorized to make interior inspections to make sure the building remains intact.

CSX path bridge may open next weekend

The cart path bridge spanning the CSX railroad track on Ga. Highway 54 West could open as soon as next weekend, according to City Manager Bernie McMullen.

The contractor is installing additional railing in several locations, a process expected to end early next week. Once complete, the Georgia Department of Transportation must come back for a final inspection before the bridge can be officially opened.

PTC OK's "no parking" off McIntosh paths

Ordinance goes into effect July 1

Starting in the fall, some McIntosh High School students will have to find a better place to park their golf carts.

The hope is that the school will be able to add about 60 to 80 new spaces by paving some additional parking area before the new school year starts, city officials said.

The Peachtree City Council Thursday approved the first-ever “no parking” area along a cart path. City staff showed photos of a cluster of golf carts, a few parked with two wheels still on the path, leaving a narrow opening for other carts to get through. Read More»
