Peeples Elementary won top honors in the 19th annual Fayette Youth Power Parade, a walk-a-thon held in Fayette County elementary schools Mar. 29 through Apr. 2.  The school came in first place and raised $7,391.10 for Fayette Youth Protection Homes, a local non-profit organization which provides shelter and support for children who have been the victims of abuse or neglect. Competitive cooking hadn’t been high on Chef John Kerkeslager’s priority list until this year. The last contest he’d entered was a quarter century ago, as a tenth grader taking food preparation classes in Lebanon, Penn. The competition was fierce and Kerkeslager came up with dishes including Seasoned Chicken Parmesan and Braised Celery Hearts that he thought were pretty good. The class instructor disagreed. Young John finished sixth in a field of six.

Jeffrey Monroe Kimbro passed away on May 3, 2010 at the age of 24.

He was born February 24, 1986 in Fontana, CA to Tony and Pam Kimbro.

Jeff attended Peachtree City schools and graduated from Starr's Mill High School in 2004. Growing up, he attended Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church and was active in the youth group. He went on two mission trips while in high school to Peru. He worked at Chick-fil-A for 2 1/2 years before attending Georgia State University upon graduation. Read More»
