Anna was a very beautiful, outgoing and intelligent girl with an “old soul.” She loved animals, art, music, and to ride horses. Justin Bieber and Bon Jovi are among her favorite musicians. She adopted Phoenix, a right whale from the New England Aquarium. Anna was taking guitar lessons and preparing to audition for chorus. PTC to reuse Kedron pool bubble?

Staff says cost likely to increase significantly for new one

A new “bubble” for the Kedron pools likely won’t be pursued this year after all.

Peachtree City recreation staff, in a memo to council, is suggesting that the city use its existing bubble another year in lieu of purchasing a new system. Council is expected to make a decision at its June 16 meeting.

Much of that suggestion is driven by facts the city doesn’t have yet, as there are still questions about whether the current bubble anchoring system is sufficient to be used for a new bubble. Read More»

5 arrested on gang charges in PTC

'Savage Life' suspects also charged in 2 robberies

Peachtree City police have arrested three adults and two juveniles in connection with alleged gang activity and two separate robberies in the city.

Mrs. Lorraine Marie Marciano, 84, of Peachtree City, passed away on June 8, 2011.

Randolph H. Crider, 84, of Peachtree City

After a brief illness, Randolph H. Crider, 84, of Peachtree City, Georgia died peacefully Tuesday, June 7, 2011, with family by his side.

He was born in St. Matthews, SC on December 14, 1926. Randy joined the Navy and was stationed in Maine as a 3rd Class Yeoman during WWII. He attended the University of SC and retired in 1990 from Burroughs/Unisys after 42 years of service. PTC man arrested for Spalding robbery, assault

A Peachtree City man was arrested June 5 on outstanding charges from Spalding County including one count of criminal attempt to commit murder, police said.

Kevin Rossborough, 47, was arrested Sunday after an officer spotted him driving and recalled that he likely had a suspended license, said Peachtree City Police Lt. Mark Brown.

When the car’s tag was run, it revealed several outstanding warrants from Spalding County, and Rossborough was placed under arrest, Brown said. Read More»

Toronto drafts McIntosh High School outfielder Dwight Smith, Jr.

Although recent McIntosh graduate Dwight Smith Jr. will likely start playing minor league ball in the South, the goal will be to one day start in the Great White North.

Smith Jr., a recent McIntosh graduate and outfielder for the Chiefs varsity baseball team, was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night. The Blue Jays selected Smith, son of former major leaguer Dwight Smith, with the 53rd overall pick.

A story at Bluejays.com states that Smith, 5-feet-11-inches, 180 pounds, is likely to make a transition to a corner outfield position and has the ability to hit for high average. Read More»
