Mrs. Julie Ann Cathey, 69, of Fayetteville, passed away on January 2, 2011.

Mrs. Cathey is preceded in death by her parents Lee Earl Jackson and Elaine Woods Jackson.

She is survived by her husband David N. Cathey; step-daughter Kelli Anderson and her husband Cary of California; step-son Matt Cathey and his wife Katherine of California; four grandchildren; brothers, Bobby Jackson and his wife Caroline of Greenville, SC and Ray Jackson and his wife Millie of Greenville. Mrs. Sheryl (Sherry) Cochran Gibbons, age 58, of Fayetteville, GA passed away December 31, 2010.

Sherry was born in Fulton County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Gibbons and a brother, Kevin Cochran.

Sherry had been employed by the US District Court for 29 plus years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid reader and a devoted Braves fan. Read More»

Ten arrested at F’ville party for underage drinking

Partying doesn’t always pay, at least when the festivities are loud enough to draw complaints. That was the case at Swan Brook Apartments in Fayetteville Dec. 30 when a visit by police resulted in the arrest of 10 underage drinkers.

Fayetteville Police spokesperson Mike Whitlow said officers responded to a loud party complaint in the early morning hours of Dec. 30 and subsequently arrested 10 people for underage possession of alcohol. F’ville arrests 2 in botched Christmas Eve burglary

Fayetteville Police arrested two men on Christmas Eve for the attempted burglary of the Radio Shack store at the Fayette Pavilion. One of the men had been sought for the Dec. 18 burglary of the Sprint store at the Uptown Shopping Center on North Glynn Street. Read More»
