The community is invited to join members of the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church Wednesday night, Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m. for a special Thanksgiving evening with Dr. Ferrol Sams Jr. speaking on the beauty of family and Thanksgiving and the importance of memory.

Help decorate vets’ tree with personalized Christmas ornaments

The Civitans and United Daughters of the Confederacy are offering the community an opportunity to help decorate this year’s Veterans’ Christmas Tree in Fayetteville with personalized Christmas ornaments.

The tree will be placed in front of the Fayetteville Log Cabin and will be decorated with 6-8-inch Christmas balls. Individuals may purchase these ornaments for $10 in memory or in honor of a veteran. The name, rank, branch of service and date served will be printed on each ornament. FFUMC’s annual Christmas Tour of Homes planned for Dec. 4 & 5

Fayetteville First United Methodist Church’s 2010 Christmas Tour of Homes is Sat., Dec. 4 and Sun., Dec. 5 from 1 – 5 p.m. The community is invited to tour beautifully and seasonally decorated homes including the 1855 Holliday Dorsey Fife House and Prime Financial.

This year, a special addition to the Tour of Homes features Chick-fil-A founder Truett Cathy’s personal collection of more than 100 classic and antique cars, many with unique histories, on display. Read More»

Mr. Paul A. Rice, 59, of Fayetteville, died November 14, 2010.

He was a deacon at McDonough Road Baptist Church. His childhood love for planes led him to a career in aviation and membership into the Commerative Air Force in Peachtree City.

F’ville pitches $8.65 million roundabout plan for Hwys. 85N/92/Hood Ave. to county

Proposed plan for Hwys. 92/85 and Hood Avenue is overlaid on aerial photo.

A plan to fix the intersection of Ga. highways 92 and 85 North, plus Hood Avenue in downtown Fayetteville, was presented to the Fayette County Commission last week.

A big part of the fix is the addition of a roundabout to the west of the existing BP gas station, along with moving the traffic light on Hwy. 85 southward from the current Hwy. 92 intersection a few yards south to the existing non-signaled Hood Avenue intersection. Read More»
