Fayetteville city court closed Tuesday

Fayetteville's Muncipal Court will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 11 due to the inclement weather, officials announced today.

City officials will make a determination Tuesday regarding the scheduled court session for Wednesday also also for future rescheduling.

Family escapes New Year’s Eve fire, but Fayetteville home badly damaged

A New Year’s Eve fire at a residence on Pleasant Point Way east of Fayetteville resulted in no significant injuries to occupants. Multiple fire units fought the early morning blaze that caused significant damage to home and its contents.

None of the four occupants in the home at the time of the fire was injured, though one child was evaluated at the scene for possible smoke inhalation, according to Fayette County Fire and Emergency Services Capt. Pete Nelms. Read More»

The Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will offer several opportunities for Bible study classes beginning in January.

F’ville to look at business taxes, trespass violations

The Fayetteville City Council at its Jan. 6 meeting will consider a state initiative designed to have the state and cities work together to collect all business tax that are due. The council will also hear the first reading of an ordinance that will put trespassing violations under city court jurisdiction.

City staff are recommending that Fayetteville participate in an initiative by the Georgia Dept. of Revenue (DOR) and the Georgia Municipal Association aimed at collecting all the sales tax due state and local governments. Read More»

Mrs. Cathey is preceded in death by her parents Lee Earl Jackson and Elaine Woods Jackson.

Mrs. Sheryl (Sherry) Cochran Gibbons, age 58, of Fayetteville, GA passed away December 31, 2010.

Sherry was born in Fulton County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Gibbons and a brother, Kevin Cochran.
