Frady not worthy to be chairman of commission

Last [month] the citizens of this county witnessed an absolute travesty as the new commissioner chairman, Mr. Frady, threatened to silence another commissioner, Mr. Steve Brown.

Mr. Frady’s behavior was appalling and in no way necessary. Last I checked this was not a dictatorship; this was an elected position that was to represent the citizens of this county. Woolsey Baptist to offer GriefShare

Woolsey Baptist Church will begin a GriefShare support group on March 2. The group will meet every Wednesday night from 6:30 - 8 p.m. for 13 weeks. The workbook costs $15. Classes are open to the community.

GriefShare is a support group for those who have lost loved ones. It is a place where one can express his or her emotions and receive comfort from others who have been there themselves.

New ‘Life Groups’ ministry starts at Fayette Family Church

Fayette Family Church on Ga. Highway 54 has begun several new group ministries which are free and open to the community. Called “Life Groups,” they will run weekly through May 7.

Classes and activities include a cooking class taught by the pastry chef at Frank’s Old Mill, an exercise class for all ages, a weight loss class, Bible studies for the English and Hispanic communities, marriage groups, prayer groups, an activity group for adults and singles 18-35, and a helps service for shut-ins, the homebound and the sick. Church of the Nativity youth plan spaghetti dinner Feb. 16

Young people at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity will serve a spaghetti dinner Wednesday, Feb. 16, to raise funds for a youth mission trip in June.

The benefit event is billed as “Mama Rita’s Italian Kitchen” in honor of the Rev. Rita Henault, rector of the parish. Mr. William “Micky” Liles, Jr., 41, of Hampton and formerly of Fayetteville, died February 5, 2011.

He is survived by his children Christopher Vaughn Liles and Whitney Liles; their mother Karen Liles; parents Bill & Lynn Liles, Sr.; sister Mindy & David Oliver and sister Lisa Place; grandmother Virginia Gerken; nieces Desirae and Ronda.

A private graveside service for the family will be held Tuesday morning. The family will gather Tuesday afternoon from 12:00 to 2:00 PM to celebrate Micky’s life at the funeral home.

Mrs. Theresa Attina Lancaster, 57, of Fayetteville

Mrs. Theresa Attina Lancaster, of Fayetteville, passed away on February 4, 2011 at the age of 57 following a valiant battle with cancer.

Theresa was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She also loved animals, and at times had raised horses, rabbits and birds. F’ville cops nab 2, seek 3rd in Walmart parking lot robbery

Armed robbery suspect Brandon Mann is considered armed and dangerous.

The Fayetteville Police Department arrested two suspects connected to a Sept. 17, 2010 armed robbery of a man and his wife in the parking lot of the Fayetteville Walmart in the Pavilion shopping center, according to Detective Mike Whitlow Friday afternoon. Read More»

Mrs. Ann Josephine Summers Lee of Senoia, GA, formerly of Fayetteville, GA, died February 1, 2011.
