Pregnancy Resource Center gets ‘Monday Mission’ help from youth

Several members of the youth group from Rolling Hills Baptist Church, along with parents, recently participated in a “Monday Mission” at the Pregnancy Resource Center in Fayetteville. The group sorted clothing, packaged diapers for distribution, cleaned toys, and miscellaneous other tasks that the staff at the PRC needed help with.

New Hope, Dogwood churches partner for WinShape C3 camps

Registration is still open for Winshape Camps C3, which will be hosted by New Hope Baptist and Dogwood Church, July 25-29. The day camp is open to all students who have completed first through sixth grade.

Camp runs from 7:30 a.m.- 5 p.m. at New Hope North Campus, 551 New Hope Road, Fayetteville (770 461-4337). Cost is $179 for a full week of camp. A deposit of $50 is due upon registration.

C3 combines sports and recreation, arts, Bible study and worship.

Mr. Walter Allie Ponder, Sr., 92, of Fayetteville

Mr. Walter Allie Ponder, Sr., 92, of Fayetteville, formerly of East Point, died on July 8, 2011.

Mr. Ponder proudly served East Point for 25 years, from 1963 – 1988. He served as City Councilman for 20 years and as Mayor for 8 years. He was a longtime member of Fayetteville Christian Church and the Lamplighters Sunday school class. He was a 33 degree Mason and was a 50-year member of the East Point Masonic Lodge. Read More»

Ernest Clain Bannister, 89, of Fayetteville, died July 8, 2011.

He was born August 10, 1921 in Pickens County, Georgia, the fifth son of the late Rufus and Ida Bannister.

He was preceded in death by first wife Rosalene Fletcher Bannister; parents; four brothers, Broughton, Alman, Linc and Rex Bannister.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joyce Tate Bannister; brother-in-law Bill Tate of Sharpsburg, GA; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Janice and Joe Lynch of Fayetteville; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Read More»

See 'Rango' at Fayetteville's Movie Under the Stars this Friday

This Friday, July 15, Xfinity along with Fayetteville Main Street is hosting a free “Movie Under the Stars” at the Villages Amphitheater. Beginning at 7 p.m., families are encouraged to come out for an evening of fun, music, and entertainment on the big screen.

Leading up to the movie, attendees can enjoy the free, family game zone and bubble area. Movie concessions (popcorn, snacks) will also be available for sale throughout the evening.
