Windel W. Norton, 66, of Fayetteville

After a long and brave battle against Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and lung cancer, Windel W. Norton, 66, passed away at his residence on March 12, 2010 with his wife, daughter, and youngest brother by his side.

Born Nov. 21, 1943, in Pelham, Ga., to the late Curtis and Ruth Norton, Windel joined the United States Army in 1962. He was stationed in Augsburg, Germany where he met his wife, Monika. Judith Sundloff

After a heroic three-year battle with cancer, Judith J. Sundloff mercifully passed away on March 13, 2010. Her treasure of loving family surrounded her as she succumbed to Brain Cancer.

Judy was the second of five children born in September 1960 to John and Margeret Jakuback in New Rochelle, New York. She attended New Rochelle High School, Westechester College, and moved to Central Florida in 1980. She attended The Florida Institute of Technology and met her husband, Fred Sundloff, in 1986. Peeples students learn at the lab

Peeples Elementary School fourth-grade enrichment students took a field trip to the Fayette County Crime Lab recently. The students were impressed to learn how local CSI officers use fingerprinting and shoe-printing, get help from drug- and bomb-sniffing dogs, and store evidence and weapons. The Starr’s Mill debate team qualified six students for the National Forensics League 2010 national tournament. The students were qualified by taking first or second place in their event at the Georgia Southern Peach District Tournament in Warner Robbins Georgia on Feb. 27. Read More»

Mr. Ralph Van Hicks, 57, of Fayetteville

Mr. Ralph Van Hicks, 57, of Fayetteville, died on March 13, 2010 following a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.

Van was a loving husband, father, brother and son and was the “ultimate family man.” He was active for many years in youth sports leagues in the Morrow and Lake City area. He is still affectionately known to many as “Coach Van.” He and his wife Karen owned and operated Karavan Doors for 27 years. Mr. Mathias was an IT consultant in Atlanta. He was preceded in death by his father Warren Mathias.

He is survived by his wife Brenda Mathias; sons, Clayton Ross Mathias, Casey Maxwell Mathias, Cory James Mathias, all of Fayetteville ; mother Lorene Mathias; brother Glenn Mathias, both of Plant City , FL.
