Satcher to speak for Atlanta Christian’s Commencement

Atlanta Christian College announced today that Dr. David Satcher, director of The Satcher Health Leadership Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine and former Surgeon General of the United States, will speak at this year’s commencement exercises. Commencement will be held May 8 at New Hope Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Ga.

Dr. Satcher graduated from Morehouse College in Atlanta in 1963 and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He holds M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Read More»

Mrs. Judy Ann Tolley, 67, of Fayetteville

Mrs. Judy Ann Tolley, 67, of Fayetteville, passed away on March 27, 2010 after a courageous battle with Pick’s Disease.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who is described as one having never met a stranger. Judy worked in the Tax offices of both Clayton and Fayette County where she served as a tag clerk. She was a great cook whose family favorite was her chocolate chip cookies. Airman Joshua White graduates from basic training

Airman Joshua D. White

Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Joshua D. White graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Mr. S. Lanier Price, age 80 of Fenwick Commons, Fayetteville, Georgia died Tuesday, March 23, 2010.

Mr. Price was born in Butts County on October 29, 1929, the son of the late Smith Price and Larue Maddox Price. He was a Real Estate Broker and Certified Appraiser with Griswold and Associates. A former Union County man will serve two consecutive life sentences following his conviction today for molesting a 15-year-old girl.
