Valentine’s Dinner at FPC will honor women of the church

Fayette Presbyterian Church (FPC) will hold its Third Annual Valentine’s Day Dinner on Feb. 12 at 5:30 p.m. to honor the women of the church.

“Last year’s occasion was joyously received by all women attending,” a spokesperson said. “They especially enjoyed personal catering at their tables by men of the church.”

The men’s group will again wear semi-formal black and white tuxedo attire and, like last year, will prepare and serve individual meals to each woman attending. Read More»

How GOP can win national elections

With the start of the 2014 election run-up, I think it is important for those of us who share a belief in small, constitutionally limited government to agree on a strategy to bring as many people into the tent as possible.

This is a reiteration of an earlier letter. For our country to continue to function in a democratic form in the future this is essential. A few more Democrat administrations like Obama’s and we will effectively be a dictatorship.

Global warming zealots’ first problem: I like it warm

I would like to disagree with Mr. Paul Lentz on several things on global warming. The reason they changed it to climate change is when the left starts getting pushed back from whatever they are pushing, then they change the name to camouflage their agenda.

I noticed Mr. Lentz used the words “arctic vortex” which is an old term in weather circles, and it was used to scare the people . It probably started from the Weather Channel; they like to scare people. I would like to say up front I like warm weather. Read More»

Joyce Lee Woodall, 60, of Fayetteville

Joyce Lee Woodall, 60, of Fayetteville, passed away January 21, 2014.

She started a pet rescue, "Love-A-Pet" in 2008 and worked tirelessly to rescue dogs and she had a booth every year at the Renaissance Festival. She was a staff member with Camp Firefly, a camp for sick children, for 25 years. She always chose to see the good in people. She was Aunt Joyce to everyone she met and all who loved her and all she loved.
