PTC Council bitterness a cancer spreading into county

The constant bitterness surrounding the City Council in Peachtree City looks to be a cancer spreading into the rest of the county.

Now that there is no [former mayor] to constantly berate, it appears Councilwoman Learnard is looking for other targets. Unfortunately for the Fayette Board of Commissioners, they appear to be the next target of her wrath.

Joy Faye Schultz, 81, of Fayetteville, passed away May 6, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her son James “Jimmy” Walter Schultz and son-in-law Phil Rhoads. She is survived by her husband Larry Schultz of Fayetteville; daughter Peggy Rhoads of Fayetteville; son L.E. “Buddy” Schultz, Jr. of Fayetteville; 4 grandchildren; and sister Lola (Bob) Hecterbran of Dallas, Texas.

The family received friends Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 6 p.m. at Harps Crossing Baptist Church, Fayetteville.  A private burial took place Friday.

Clark Richard "Dick" Gray, 80, of Fayetteville, passed away May 8, 2014.

He is survived by his wife Lillian Gray of Fayetteville; daughter Donna (John) Jenkins of Fayetteville; sons Richard (Valerie) Gray of Fayetteville, Wayne Gray of Fayetteville, and Robbie (Dottie) Gray of Fayetteville; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

B.D. Luke, MD, 92, of Fayetteville

B.D. Luke, MD, 92, of Fayetteville, passed away at home May 6, 2014 after a lengthy illness. 

He was a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia and interned at University Hospital, Augusta. Dr. Luke established the first medical practice in Morrow, Ga. and was a charter staff member at South Fulton Hospital. Additionally, he served as the staff physician at Clayton State College.

Dr. Luke always carried his black medical bag and was one of the few doctors who still made house calls. He delivered and treated many generations in Clayton County. Read More»

Early voting this Saturday in F’ville

Early voting has begun Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at three locations in Fayette County: the Peachtree City Library, Tyrone Town Hall and the county’s elections office in downtown Fayetteville.

Polls will also be open this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. only at the elections office in Fayetteville, which meets a federal requirement to offer Saturday voting during a federal election. Read More»

F’ville man arrested on child molestation charges

A Fayetteville man was arrested May 8 on charges of child molestation and aggravated assault in connection to three incidents involving two girls between 2007 and 2011.
