Frank Everett Parrott, Sr., of Fayetteville

Mr. Frank Everett Parrott, Sr. (8/23/1920-12/23/2014) of Fayetteville (formerly of Red Oak, Ga.)  Retired from Southern Bell on 12/31/83 after 43 years of service.  He was married to his now deceased wife, Mary Elizabeth Thames Parrott, for over 71 years. 

Everett was a member of North Fayette Methodist Church and prior to that an active elder, deacon, and board member of Red Oak Christian Church.  He was one of the founding members of the volunteer Red Oak Fire Department.  Read More»

Robert Jordan, Sr., of Fayetteville

On Tuesday, December 16, 2014, the Lord called for Mr. Robert Jordan, Sr.

Robert was born on March 10, 1935 to the late Lawrence Jordan and Emma Henderson Jordan of Fayetteville.

He was preceded in death by his brother Homer Lee Jordan. He joined Merrill Chapel United Methodist Church at an early age.

Robert attended the Fayette County School System in Fayetteville, Ga. He was known for wheeling and dealing, his love and compassion for his family, workers on the Corner and all the customers and friends he met on the Corner. Read More»

F'ville cops searching for Dollar General robber

Fayetteville police are asking for the community’s help in locating a man who held up the Dollar General store on Banks Road near Ga. Highway 85 North during the mid-morning hours of Dec. 22.
Det. Mike Whitlow said a black male wearing blue jeans and a black hoodie entered the Dollar General store at 10:14 a.m. Monday.

Piedmont’s medical community collected 2,525 toys as part of their Marine Toys for Tots Foundation campaign in Fayette and Coweta counties. Toys were collected at Piedmont Fayette Hospital, Piedmont Newnan Hospital and physician practices throughout the two counties in order to provide a better Christmas for disadvantaged children in the area. F’ville retail legend Robert Jordan is gone

A Fayette County institution has passed away. Robert Jordan, 79, the owner of the landmark Jordan Sales & Salvage on Jeff Davis Drive at West Lanier Avenue in Fayetteville, died Wednesday.

He leaves Nellie, his wife of 60 years, a son, two brothers, a sister, grandchildren and innumerable friends and former customers.

The funeral will be Saturday, Dec. 20, at 1 p.m. at the Fayetteville First Baptist Church Church.

F’ville has ‘Christmas with police’

These are but a few of the Fayetteville police officers who participated in the department’s 11th Annual Christmas with the police event designed to help families in need have a happier Christmas. The Fayetteville Police Department on Dec. 11 held its 11th annual “Christmas with the Police” program.

This year, the department was able to provide presents for nine children in four families as well as dinner and gift certificates for each family. Fayetteville police officers and detectives shopped for each child based on wish lists they had provided. The department also held a Christmas party for the families, said Det. Mike Whitlow.
