Point-to-Point races provide a show of skill and love

The setting March 27 could not have been more perfect for the Bear Creek Hounds Point-to-Point Races held at Bear Creek Farm south of Moreland. A total of 83 horses ran in the multiple races held on the rolling terrain.

A centuries-old tradition came alive amid the rolling hills of Bear Creek Farm near Moreland recently. And in the second running of the Bear Creek Hounds Point-to-Point Races it is likely that a new tradition had emerged. Newnan offers reward in beating of 90 year-old woman

The Newnan City Council is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the September beating of a 90 year-old woman in her home on Pinson Street.

On September 21 the Newnan Police Department began an investigation into the assault of a 90 year old woman, said Public Information Officer Gina Snider. The woman, who lives alone, was assaulted in her home at 121 Pinson Street. She was found by friends on the morning of Sept. 21 who routinely check on her well being, Snider said. Read More»

Coweta schools unaffected by Senate furlough bill

The Georgia Senate passed, and the House in considering, a bill that prevents school systems with more than six percent of their operations budget in a reserve funds account from imposing additional furlough days on school system employees prior to June 30. Anthony Drive in Newnan to be closed for work beginning April 5

Anthony Drive will be closed to traffic for drainage work beginning on April 5. Local access will be maintained from either Elaine Drive or Jefferson Street.

“Drivers should plan travel in this area accordingly”, said Newnan Public Works Director Michael Klahr. “The repaired section of road will be worth the time and inconvenience the road is closed.”
