Fischer Crossings still in limbo

There is still no resolution to the Fischer Crossings commercial development along Ga. Highway 54 just east of Fischer Road. Coweta County commissioners Feb. 2 voted 2-2 on changes to the conceptual site plan pertaining to an aquatic center on the north side of the property and questions about the access road situated behind the aquatic center and the theaters. New Senoia restaurant moves closer to reality

A large group of Senoia residents at a public forum last year said they wanted to see another restaurant in the city that would serve breakfast. Enter the Fried Green Tomatoes Cafe. Commission changes procedure to benefit citizens

It may seem like a small matter in terms of a change in procedure, but for those wanting to have input on decisions at meetings of the Coweta County Commission that small change can make the difference in having your say prior to the vote.

The change in procedure, addressed at the Feb. 2 meeting, gives residents additional time to have their names added to the audience participation list. Prior to the change, residents had to sign-up to speak prior to the beginning of the meeting. Read More»

Charter school to hold forum Monday in Senoia

Charter Schools USA will hold a public forum Monday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Freeman Sasser Building in Senoia. School representatives will provide an update on the efforts of Charter Schools USA to establish a K-8 school in Senoia.

Cynthia S. Whiteman

Cynthia S. Whiteman, 55, Newnan, died Jan. 27, 2010. She had taught school in Clayton County for 30 years. During her teaching career she was frequently voted the Most Outstanding Teacher of the Year for her school. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Edwards Sylvester in 1985. Arnold Lamar Hasty Sr. 

Arnold Lamar Hasty Sr. 78, Senoia, died Jan. 28, 2010. He was a former mayor of Riverdale. He was preceded in death by brothers, Alex Hasty, and Bill Hasty. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with interment at the Senoia City Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Juanita Hasty, Senoia; sons, Lamar and Glenda Hasty, Fayetteville, Russell and Pam Hasty, Tennessee, and Bradley and Aleyn Hasty, Senoia; six grandchildren; and a sister, Valmon Henson, Canton. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.

Ministry cofounder dies unexpectedly

A Better Way Ministries co-director Tony Ingram passed away unexpectedly Sunday night.

A Better Way founder John Barrow said Monday that cofounder and musician Tony Ingram died Sunday night of what is believed to have been a heart attack. Ingram is survived by a wife and two small children.

Barrow said Ingram was a director and one of three charter members of the ministry that opened its doors five years ago. Read More»
