AT&T Wireless customers in east Coweta County should see a boost in their service with the activation last week of a new 3G wireless cell site. Charity golf tournament coming to Cannongate

Awesome Youth Inc. will host its first annual Elaine B. Connally Memorial Golf Tournament Saturday, May 15 at the Canongate I Golf Club.

The tournament event begins at 11 a.m. with tee time at 1 p.m. Team registration and single registration is available. Team, single, and raffle prizes include items such as cash, golf equipment and a Honda Accord Crosstour.

Awesome Youth Incorporated is a nonprofit organization, with all proceeds from the tournament benefitting the Summer Camp Scholarships for underprivileged under-served youth. Read More»

John Stephen McCook and Dawn Cramer Dickerson were married April 9, 2010, at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Sharpsburg. Bishop David Epps, Canon Dan Hale and Deacon Bill Shelton officiated.

The bride owns a cleaning company and is self-employed. The groom is a sergeant with the Peachtree City Police Department.

Betty Marylynn Thompson, 80, formerly of Palmetto

Betty Marylynn Thompson, 80, of Williamson, formerly of Palmetto, died April 23, 2010.

She is survived by her husband Edward Thompson; daughter Vicki and Steve Borders; son Kenny and Visa Thompson; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother Wayne Richards; sister-in-law Doris Richards; and nieces and nephews.

Judge rules Starship can open

The Starship Adult Novelties and Gifts location on Ga. Highway 34 at Thomas Crossroads was given the go-ahead to obtain its business license April 19 after the company had its day in Coweta County Superior Court.

It was a long time in the making, but all that ended April 19 when Coweta County Superior Court Judge Jack Kirby ruled in favor of Starship Enterprises in its lawsuit against Coweta County after county commissioners last year denied a business license to the Starship Adult Novelties and Gifts location on Ga.
