Senoia Enterprises receives economic development award

The annual South Metro Development Outlook conference was held Feb. 20 at the Ga. International Convention Center in College Park. Serving on the panel addressing metro Atlanta and Georgia’s burgeoning film industry was Senoia Enterprises President Scott Tigchelaar, whose company received an award for Outstanding Commitment to Economic Development.

Tigchelaar during the film industry segment of the day-long conference was joined by panelists such as Georgia Film, Music and Digital Entertainment Director Lee Thomas and Tyler Perry Studios location scout Jason Underwood. Read More»

Margaret Helen Jastrzebski, age 88 of Senoia

Margaret Helen Jastrzebski, age 88 of Senoia, Ga. passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 at Cartersville Medical Center.

Mrs. Jastrzebski was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

She is survived by her sons, Walter Jastrzebski of Canton, John Jastrzebski of Woodstock, William Jastrzebski of Rydell; daughters, Joellen Rosemas of Senoia, Patricia Johnson of Chunchula, Ala.; sister, Betty Millwood of Russelville, Ky., also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Wounded heroes program to provide Newnan home to veteran

A national organization supporting wounded veterans has a mortgage-free home in Newnan that will soon go to the recipient of the Homes 4 Wounded Heroes program.

The Military Warriors Support Foundation (MWSF) was founded in 2007 to support wounded combat veterans during their transition back to civilian life. One of the programs, Homes 4 Wounded Heroes, pairs wounded vets with a mortgage-free home. Read More»

'Flies at the Well' scheduled to play at Coweta courthouse

On Feb. 9 at their annual Gala, the Newnan Theatre Company formally accepted the script for “Flies at the Well,” to be performed in Newnan’s historic courthouse. In June of 2010, Caroline Abbey, then chair of the Newnan Theatre Company Board of Directors, spearheaded a project that for years had been only a dream: re-enacting the 1948 John Wallace murder trial in the Coweta County courthouse where the original trial took place. Mrs. Pat Pealor of Sharpsburg, Ga. passed away Feb. 13, 2013.

She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Turner and her husband Richard of Mt. Airy, Ga.; sons, Mike Pealor and his wife Diane of St. Augustine, Fla.; Terry Pealor and his wife Sandi of Newnan; sister, Flossie Dooley of Cornelia, Ga.; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 at 1 p.m. at First Christian Church of Tyrone with remains placed in state at 12 p.m.
