Piedmont Heart Institute Physicians have teamed up with Us Against Arthero, to bring the Artery Explorer experience to its office at 20 Francis Way, Suite 101 in Sharpsburg. Wisconsin choirs to perform at Faith Lutheran in Sharpsburg

The Wisconsin Lutheran Choir and Chamber Choir, from Wisconsin Lutheran College and under the direction of Dr. James Nowack, will perform a concert on Sunday, March 7 at 7 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Sharpsburg. The concert is part of the choirs’ 2010 Spring Concert Tour.

The choir will present a diverse, mostly a capella program of sacred and secular choral works in original languages. Read More»

Marjorie D. Moseley

Marjorie D. Moseley, 89, Sharpsburg, formerly of Fayetteville, died Feb. 9, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Moseley Sr., and a brother, 1st Lt. Clifford Deibler. She was born in Sherrill, N. Y., and was a graduate of Plattsburgh State University. She and her husband were owner-cofounders of Moseley Linoleum & Tile Co., in East Point. She was a longtime member of Fayette Presbyterian Church. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Cliff Haddox officiating. Wisconsin Lutheran Choir to perform in Sharpsburg

The Wisconsin Lutheran Choir and Chamber Choir from Wisconsin Lutheran College will perform a free concert on Sunday, March 7 at 7 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Sharpsburg.

The choir will present a diverse, mostly a capella program of sacred and secular choral works in original languages.

The program in four parts concludes with favorite hymns and spirituals, including arrangements by Harry T. Burleigh, F. Melius Christiansen, and Paul Caldwell and Sean Ivory, and the Wisconsin Lutheran Choir’s signature “Abide With Me,” arranged by Lucy Hirt. Read More»

Two children received the Sacrament of Holy Baptism recently at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Sharpsburg. On Jan. 10, the first Sunday after the Epiphany, also known at “The Baptism of Our Lord,” Lila Grace McGee (left photo), daughter of Seth and Joy Barnes McGee of Peachtree City, received Holy Baptism. LLM certification

Several men and women received training leading toward certification as Licensed Liturgical Ministers (LLM) in the Mid-South Diocese of the Charismatic Episcopal Church. Those who complete the process are licensed by the diocese to serve the chalice at services of Holy Communion and are authorized to take Holy Communion to the sick and shut-in of their parish. The classes were held at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Sharpsburg and were taught by Father Dan Hale, Canon Liturgist for the Mid-South Diocese, assisted by Deacon James Gardner. Read More»

Robert H. Ashley

Robert H. Ashley, 70, Brooks, died Jan. 16, 2010. He was born Dec. 29, 1939 in Sharpsburg, son of the late Ralph and Estelle Ashley. He enjoyed working on his land and spending time with his family. He started a successful wire rope and sling business over 50 years ago. He also started an insurance company and loved to work. Read More»

William Ross Elliott, 23, Sharpsburg, died Jan.. 4, 2010 of complications of pulmonary illness. He was a 2005 graduate of Northgate High School. He enjoyed outdoor adventure and loved hiking, marine life, photography and a fine cigar. Memorial services will be this Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at the McKoon Funeral Home chapel with the Rev.
