Who says zombies can’t enjoy a regular meal? And that’s exactly what Fayetteville zombie wedding couple Kris Gilmore and Emily Holland did Oct. 13 at the Zombie Wedding Bash in Haralson, sponsored by The Funky Shack Art Studio and owners Dawn Hunt and Jennifer Yarbrough. The first-time event was held in celebration of the third season of “The Walking Dead” being filmed in Haralson and nearby Senoia. Payton Silvers will perform at Senoia UMC October 28

Senoia United Methodist Church will welcome Payton Silvers as the guest soloist on Oct. 28 at the 10:55 a.m. morning worship service.

Silvers is a Southern Gospel tenor singer from the north Georgia town of Kingston who has been singing since the age of eight. He is a sergeant with the Bartow County Fire Dept.

He has attended the Steve Hurst School of Music at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn., for the past four years, working alongside some of the best singers and musicians in Southern Gospel music. Read More»

Senoia to meet on change in charter, sewer rates

The Senoia City Council will hold a workshop on Oct. 3 to discuss items that include a change in the city’s charter and a potential hike in sewer rates.

The charter change topic was included in the workshop because the council wanted to discuss the potential for changing the city charter from the current Strong Mayor-Council form of government to the Council-Manager form.

Senoia cops nab man after high-speed chase

It began as an attempt by a Senoia officer to stop a speeding vehicle. But by the time the Aug. 10 incident was over it had turned into a high-speed pursuit of a stolen vehicle, a brief manhunt and the apprehension of a 22 year-old Gay resident on multiple charges.

Senoia seeks school zone expansion for charter school area

The Senoia City Council on Monday approved lower speed limits on Ga. Highway 16, but that does not mean that the speed will come down anytime soon. The ultimate decision rests with the Ga. Dept. of Transportation (DOT).

The idea behind the ordinance change was to cut down on the potential for accidents in the vicinity of the Coweta Charter Academy on Hwy. 16 on the city’s west side by petitioning the Ga. Dept. of Transportation (DOT) to approve a school zone speed limit during regular school hours. Read More»
