Senoia Idea House hits 12,000 visitors and counting

The Southern Living magazine 2010 Idea House opened on the Gin Property in Senoia less than three months ago. But the four-story 5,000 square-foot luxury brownstone that is part of the Historic Senoia Project has already seen nearly 12,000 visitors come through its doors since the June 12 opening. Senoia to consider agreement on radio tower

Senoia officials are in discussions with Coweta County to install an 800 MHz radio tower on city-owned property near Howard Road. If approved, the
tower would provide enhanced communications capabilities between local government agencies.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) relating to the proposal was adopted by the Coweta County Commission last week. The proposal is being discussed by the city and county, with the City Council expected to make a decision on the issue sometime soon, said Senoia City Administrator Richard Ferry. Read More»

Senoia reviews ordinance for pre-owned manufactured homes

The Senoia City Council Monday night heard the first reading of an ordinance addressing the regulation of pre-owned manufactured homes.

City attorney Drew Whalen told the council that the ordinance addressing pre-owned manufactured homes was needed so that the city could be in compliance with recent changes in state law.

“The city needs an ordinance to regulate pre-owned manufactured homes as long as age is not used as a factor,” Whalen said. Read More»

Man caught after early morning robbery in Senoia

It was a robbery that probably did not go as the thief had planned. Quick work by Senoia police officers led to the capture of an Atlanta man after he robbed a Senoia convenience store early Saturday morning.

Senoia Police Capt. Steve Tomlin said Dantoine Kitchens, 24, was charged with robbery and shoplifting in the incident that occurred at the Marathon store on Ga. Highway 85 near Ga. Highway 16. Read More»

Woman seriously injured in Senoia collision Thursday morning

Senoia Police reported that a Waverly Hall woman was listed in serious but stable condition after her vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer Thursday morning at the intersection of Ga. Highway 85 and Ga. Highway 16.

Though all details are not yet available, Senoia Police spokesman Steve Tomlin said the accident occurred at 9:29 a.m. when the unidentified driver of a 2009 Kenworth tractor-trailer failed to yield the right of way at the intersection, striking Waverly Hall resident Selina Blake. Read More»

Senoia okays church on Rockaway Rd.

The Senoia City Council Aug. 2 unanimously approved a conditional use permit for the 12,000 square-foot Legacy Christian Church to be constructed on 19 acres on the northwest corner of Rockaway Road and Heritage Pointe Parkway.

The council’s approval followed a public hearing and review of the request by the Senoia Planning Commission. The commission recommended approval with a number of conditions. The council in its approval also noted that any revisions to the site plan must come back to the city council. Read More»

Senoia adopts policy for film crews

It is expected to be a work in progress, but one that city officials said needed to be addressed. The Senoia City Council Aug. 2 unanimously approved a policy for the film industry when shooting in the city.

City administrator Richard Ferry said the procedures pertaining to the policy should be followed by filmmakers, “in order to maintain the balance between the quality of life for the residents and supporting the film industry.”
