Senoia selected again for next Idea House

Southern Living Magazine's rendition of the 2012 Idea House in Senoia.

Last year Senoia was the site of Southern Living Magazine’s 2010 Idea House. It was a first for the area and the magazine’s first time to feature a brownstone. Now history is repeating itself with the Nov. 15 announcement that Senoia will feature Southern Living’s 2012 Idea House. Coweta Charter Academy at Senoia celebrates veterans

Seems like there is always something happening at the Coweta Charter Academy at Senoia. Veterans Day was no exception as the auditorium was filled to capacity with elementary school kids, parents and plenty of veterans on hand to mark the occasion. The school’s children sang, recited poems and gave a number of recognitions to the large number of veterans present. Some in the audience were moved to tears as the young students spoke with pride of their family members serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. Photo/Ben Nelms.

Becky Wyatt, 51, of Senioa

Becky Wyatt, 51, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011. Born April 8, 1960 in Atlanta, Ga., Becky lived in Senoia and worked with her husband, Donald in a family business. Becky was an avid fundraiser for The Alzheimerís Association and intrepid traveler of the Western World.

Survivors include husband, Donald Bulloch of Senoia, Ga., mother, Genetha Wyatt and father, Tommy Wyatt, both of Fayetteville, Ga., sister, Rhonda Wyatt-Frizzell, brother-in-law, Scott Frizzell and Nephew, Keaton Wyatt of Brooks, Ga., a multitude of loving family members and close friends. Senoia leaves library board

The board of directors of the Coweta County Library System voted unanimously Oct. 21 to approve a request by Senoia that the city’s five-year Joint Operating Agreement be terminated two years early. The decision also means that the city will no longer be required to contribute $20,000 per year for the city library’s maintenance and operation costs. Read More»

The election to determine the winners of the two Senoia City Council seats comes on Nov. 8. And the four candidates for those seats got a chance to put themselves before the voters Oct. 27 at a forum held at the city’s Municipal Court building. New 'food shelf' forms in Senoia

There is a new community service in the Senoia area that is determined to combat the realities brought on by the continuing down economy. The Sow Good Center “food shelf” was recently formed and operated by local churches and residents with the idea of “serving our neighbors in need.”
Sow Good Center representative Cheryl Krichbaum said the new food shelf initiative had its start-up in August by two Senoia churches and a community member. Read More»

Senoia Area Blood Drive on November 7th

The Optimist Club of Senoia will sponsor a blood drive for the Senoia area on Monday, November 7.  The community drive will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the Senoia United Methodist Church.  The hours of the drive will be from 1-6 p.m.  Since this will be the last blood drive in Senoia before the upcoming holidays, local Donor Recruitment Representative Julie Tilson of the American Red Cross (ARC) explained that people are encouraged to “make a donation before vacation." Holiday auction for Senoia Area Historical Society next Saturday evening

Senoia Area Historical Society will hold its Annual Holiday Auction on Saturday, November 12 at the society’s house and museum, 6 Couch Street, Senoia.

The theme this year will be “Bollywood Nights”. This came about because of a donation of Belly Dancing lessons and because we are a movie town. Belly dancers have offered to demonstrate. Read More»
