Changes to Legagcy Church approved

Minor changes to the Legacy Christian Church project on Rockaway Road were approved Tuesday by the Senoia City Council. Talks continue on future of old Senoia Police Dept.

What should become of Senoia’s old Police Department on Main Street now that the new building has opened on Howard Road? Should the buildings be sold or leased? The answer to that question will be left up to the city council once cost estimates for needed rehab and structural work have been obtained.

Senoia moves ahead with assisted living project

The Senoia City Council agreed Tuesday night to continue its plan to have an elderly care facility established in the city. The council voted unanimously to deed 7.34 acres on Coweta Street to the city’s Downtown Development Authority to facilitate the upcoming contract for the project. Read More»

Senoia okays rule on pre-owned manufactured homes

The Senoia City Council Tuesday night heard the second reading and unanimously approved an ordinance addressing the regulation of pre-owned manufactured homes.

City attorney Drew Whalen last month told the council that the ordinance addressing pre-owned manufactured homes was needed so that the city could be in compliance with recent changes in state law.

“The city needs an ordinance to regulate pre-owned manufactured homes as long as age is not used as a factor,” Whalen said. Read More»

Tea Party group forms in Senoia

It is a movement that many thought could never last past the first few months. But as it turned out, the dissatisfaction with government has taken a grassroots movement national and, more than a year later, it is only growing. Enter the newest local group of citizens determined to become better informed and participative, the Senoia Tea Party Patriots.

Group organizer/coordinator and Senoia resident Joe Cannin has been involved with the Tea Party movement in Coweta and Fayette counties since they began in early 2009. His involvement included helping to develop small neighborhood groups. Read More»

Senoia Idea House hits 12,000 visitors and counting

The Southern Living magazine 2010 Idea House opened on the Gin Property in Senoia less than three months ago. But the four-story 5,000 square-foot luxury brownstone that is part of the Historic Senoia Project has already seen nearly 12,000 visitors come through its doors since the June 12 opening. Open until mid-December, the house is expected to easily top the 25,000-30,000 visitors anticipated by Southern Living. Read More»

Senoia to consider agreement on radio tower

Senoia officials are in discussions with Coweta County to install an 800 MHz radio tower on city-owned property near Howard Road. If approved, the
tower would provide enhanced communications capabilities between local government agencies.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) relating to the proposal was adopted by the Coweta County Commission last week. The proposal is being discussed by the city and county, with the City Council expected to make a decision on the issue sometime soon, said Senoia City Administrator Richard Ferry. Read More»

Man caught after early morning robbery in Senoia

It was a robbery that probably did not go as the thief had planned. Quick work by Senoia police officers led to the capture of an Atlanta man after he robbed a Senoia convenience store early Saturday morning.
