Senoia United Methodist Church preps for Education Sunday July 29

Members of Senoia United Methodist Church are preparing for “Education Sunday.”

Faculty and the support staff from Eastside Elementary School, Coweta Charter Academy, East Coweta Middle School, and East Coweta High School are invited to attend a special dedication service followed by a covered dish luncheon on July 29th at Senoia United Methodist Church.

Worship will begin at 10:55 a.m., and recognition of the teachers and staff will be a featured part of the morning service. Read More»

Senoia wants speed zone for charter school on Hwy. 16

Senoia is attempting to cut down on the potential for accidents in the vicinity of the Coweta Charter Academy on Ga. Highway 16 on the city’s west side by petitioning the Ga. Dept. of Transportation (DOT) to approve a school zone speed limit during regular school hours. The proposal may be a no-go due to the school not having enough students to meet DOT requirements. The United Methodist Men of Senoia United Methodist Church carried the ministry of the church outside the walls into the community on Saturday, June 23.

Long time member Mrs. Eron Crook had become homebound due to her declining health. Access to her home required negotiating stairs at every entrance making it nearly impossible for her to leave her home — even for doctor visits. Read More»

Doug and Shirley Vincent of Senoia will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on June 21, 2012.

They will observe the occasion by enjoying a brunch with family on June 24 at Rays on the River.

Senoia Area Historical Society establishing research library

The Senoia Area Historical Society is establishing a research library in the museum and is looking for material that would help document and preserve the history of Senoia and the surrounding area.
 
If you would like to donate any items such as books, newspaper articles, church directories, school yearbooks, photographs, digital photos, etc. the society would be grateful.  Items will become part of the society's collection and will be treated as historic treasures.

Judicial candidates to square off in Senoia

Residents of Senoia and the surrounding communities on June 19 will have an opportunity to hear comments from two candidates, Emory Palmer and Kevin McMurry, aspiring for the position of Coweta County Superior Court Judge. There will be an opportunity to ask questions after their opening comments.

Senoia coffeehouse gets makeover for ‘The Walking Dead’

Is it the Senoia Coffee & Cafe on Main Street in Senoia or is it the Woodbury Coffee House? Actually it’s both. The landmark Senoia Coffee & Cafe was transformed Wednesday into the Woodbury Coffee House as part of the set for “The Walking Dead” television show that is currently filming in downtown Senoia.
