Idea House gives donation to Camp Southern Ground

A check for more than $37,000 from proceeds of the 2012 Idea House located on the Gin Property in Senoia was presented Feb. 8 to Camp Southern Ground on behalf of Southern Living Magazine. Philip John Lewandowski, of Senoia, Ga. passed away on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013.

He was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 24, 1946.

Philip graduated from Anthony Wayne High School in 1964 and from the University of Toledo in 1969 with a BA Degree in Statistics with Engineering background and was captain of the golf team his senior year. Read More»

Senoia purchases land for new ball fields

The idea of establishing new ball fields in Senoia is something that has been on the minds of city council members for more than a year. And the time to make their move came Feb. 4 when council members voted unanimously to purchase nearly 63 acres on Ga. Highway 16 as a future recreation facility.

The 62.8-acre property, located across Hwy. 16 from the Coweta Charter Academy, was part of a 268-acre site slated for development as a conservation subdivision. The purchase came with a price tag of $376,800. Read More»

Eye on the ball for Cupid Chase

Colorful clowns were just part of the excitement Saturday morning in Senoia as a few hundred participants turned out in frigid temperatures for the Cupid Chase, a 5K run and 1-mile walk fundraiser for the Citizens United in Research for Epilepsy (CURE). Robert Beasley of Senoia

Mr. Robert Beasley of Senoia, Ga. passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2013. He was a World War II Veteran and a Veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by two sons, Jonathan Beasley and Karl Beasley; two grandchildren, Hanna and Alison Beasley and two brothers, Grady and Ike Beasley.

There will be a Graveside Service for Mr. Robert Beasley on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Georgia National Cemetery located in Canton, Georgia. Read More»

Senoia qualifying dates set

It was an otherwise short agenda item approved with little fanfare at Monday night’s meeting of the Senoia City Council. But the approval of the qualifying dates for municipal elections later this year could result in increased interest since Mayor Robert Belisle has announced he will not seek reelection.

Belisle’s term will expire at the end of the year, as will those of Councilman Jeff Fisher and Councilman Larry Owens. Senoia uses the at-large method of electing council members. Read More»

Run-walk event in Senoia aimed at epilepsy

A 5K race and 1 mile walk will be held in Senoia Feb. 2 to help raise funds for epilepsy research.

The Cupid Chase is chaired by local resident Mikki Lewis, whose daughter Hadley was diagnosed with epilepsy after her first grand mal seizure while in kindergarten in 2008. Since then, Hadley was diagnosed with other related problems including dyslexia, delayed fine motor skills and other issues. Read More»
