The Senoia City Council may get the opportunity this week to vote on a bid for the renovation of city hall. The project itself has been in the planning stages for approximately two years and includes work on the exterior and interior and, from a streetside view, will give the facility a look resembling an old-time train depot that melds with the downtown area’s historic look.

Senoia UMC members serve lunch to ECMS teachers

Senoia UMC provided a soup and sandwich luncheon to the teachers and staff of East Coweta Middle School on Jan. 4, the only teacher Work Day in the 2011-2012 school year.

A number of members provided soups including taco, broccoli and cheese, chicken noodle, New England clam chowder, chili and many others, along with grilled cheese sandwiches and many wonderful desserts — banana pudding, cookies of all types, cakes, and such. Read More»

Senoia changes fishing rules, mayor pro tem arrangement

It may not have been the most action-filled meeting, but the Senoia City Council on Jan. 9 took care of business relating to the fishing ordinance and adjusted the length of service of the mayor pro tem.

The council made an adjustment to the ordinance governing fishing at Marimac Lakes Park. The previous ordinance permitted fishing from May through September but council members voted to have the lake open for fishing throughout the year. Read More»

'Pedal for Pets' raises funds to address pet over-population

Senoia business owner and Fayette County resident Wendy Maguire has long been concerned about the over-population of dogs and cats. And recently the animal lover in her decided to put her effort where her heart is. Maguire established Pedal for Pets and is conducting fundraising events to help supply funds for spay and neutering in conjunction with the multi-county Georgia Heartland Humane Society and the H.E.L.P. Senoia completes long-range recreation plan

It is an ambitious plan for parks and recreation in Senoia that would add substantially to the family-friendly landscape in coming years. The draft of the city’s 20-year Recreation Master Plan has been completed and is available on the city’s website. As conceived, the total cost of the long-range plan was established at $25.9 million. Senoia opens new welcome center

The time has come and the Senoia Welcome Center is open for business. The new facility located at 68 Main Street opened officially on Thursday and is set to provide a wealth of information to visitors and city residents.

Seated inside the welcome center that looks more like home than an office, Senoia Downtown Development Authority Chair Suzanne Helfman and DDA member Rhonda Moye said the mission for the welcome center is one that looks to serve the community. That includes visitors wanting information pertaining to the city and Senoia residents wanting to keep up with local events.   Read More»
