Senoia man arrested for residential burglary

A Senoia man was arrested April 3 in connection with a residential burglary and is a suspect in four other residential burglaries that occurred in recent months on Senoia’s northeast side.

James A. Robinson, age 38, of Bridge Street, was charged with burglary, theft by receiving stolen property and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, according to Senoia Police Det. Jason Ercole. Read More»

Senoia water tower to become restaurant, bar with a view

Ever since Scott Tigchelaar was a kid he wanted a water tower. That dream came true recently when his company purchased the old water tower in downtown Senoia that was put out for bid by the Senoia City Council last year as surplus property. As for the 110-foot water tower, look for it to be transformed in the future into a restaurant on ground level with a bar in the tower’s bowl that will provide a scenic view of the surrounding area. Marijuana semantics ; Gadfly files suit over language in Senoia ordinance

Senoia resident Don Rehman has filed suit against the mayor and city council over a city ordinance dealing with the misdemeanor offense of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. Rehman’s March 15 filing in Coweta County Superior Court contends that the Senoia city ordinance essentially mandates that males are required to be in possession of more than an ounce of marijuana to be considered law abiding citizens. Senoia business owner charged with sending nude photo to girl, 14

Senoia business owner Todd Baggarly is facing a misdemeanor charge that involves a nude photo of himself that he purposefully sent to a 14-year-old Senoia girl.

Senoia Police Investigator Jason Ercole said a Senoia resident on Feb. 11 made a complaint to the Senoia Police Dept. alleging that Founders Restaurant owner Todd Baggarly had sent a nude photograph of himself to her 14-year-old daughter via Facebook. Read More»

Senoia/Coweta sign joint park venture

The Coweta County Commission and the Senoia City Council have approved an intergovernmental agreement that will lead to the establishment of a future active recreation park in the Senoia area. The new park will be designated as the Leroy Johnson Park.

The agreement calls for the city to purchase the future park property and to provide a warranty deed to the county. The county will be responsible for the park’s operation. The agreement also calls for initial construction to begin within three years. Read More»

Senoia approves 241-home subdivision

There is beginning to be incremental evidence that the sobering downturn in the residential housing market due to the Great Recession is taking a turn for the better. A bit of that evidence of came March 4 by way of the Senoia City Council and the approval of the 241-home Fieldstone Estates subdivision that will be located on Ga. Highway 16 West.

The approval paves the way for future development of the 268-acre property that is expected to be the eventual site of 241 homes on lots of up to one-half acre. The anticipated price range of the homes is $140,000-160,000. Read More»

The annual South Metro Development Outlook conference was held Feb. 20 at the Ga. International Convention Center in College Park. Serving on the panel addressing metro Atlanta and Georgia’s burgeoning film industry was Senoia Enterprises President Scott Tigchelaar, whose company received an award for Outstanding Commitment to Economic Development.

Margaret Helen Jastrzebski, age 88 of Senoia

Margaret Helen Jastrzebski, age 88 of Senoia, Ga. passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 at Cartersville Medical Center.

Mrs. Jastrzebski was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

She is survived by her sons, Walter Jastrzebski of Canton, John Jastrzebski of Woodstock, William Jastrzebski of Rydell; daughters, Joellen Rosemas of Senoia, Patricia Johnson of Chunchula, Ala.; sister, Betty Millwood of Russelville, Ky., also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
