Coweta Gospel sings set for July 22, 23

The Grantville Southern Country Gospel Sings, which formerly were held in the renovated Railroad Freight Depot, will continue to be held down the tracks a bit at the First Baptist Church of Grantville.

The sings will be held on the fourth Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. The concerts are free and open to the public, and there will be opportunity to meet the artists.

Featured on Friday, July 22 will be Bobby Ellis and His Country Gospel Band, Sounds of Glory and One Accord. Featured on Saturday, July 23 will be the Morris Family and the Klondike Trio. Read More»

The popular NITWITS are returning to the NCTC stage on June 18, Saturday evening at 8 p.m. NITWITS stands for Newnan Improv Troupe with Intelligent Talented Stooges. The actors play games that require them to improvise a story or skit on the spur of the moment.

Kimberly Marie Fowler, 29, of Newnan, formerly of Fayette County died Tuesday, June 7, 2011.

Mrs. Fowler was a school teacher with the Coweta County Schools. She was a graduate of Starrs Mill High School and West Georgia College.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph K. Newnan man pleads guilty in prescription drug ring

Newnan resident Terry Randy Wallace pleaded guilty in federal court May 11 to conspiring with nearly a dozen others to possess and distribute the prescription drug oxycodone. The case is related to another involving 27 year-old Marietta resident Kristen Noelle Goduto and an alleged drug ring, the Goduto organization, that forged prescriptions for oxycodone and sold the drug across north Georgia from Blue Ridge to McDonough. Neil Simon’s “Rumors” opened yesterday at the Newnan Community Theatre.

“Everyone loves Neil Simon,” said Paul Conroy, Artistic Director for NCTC. “He’s one of the top three best known American playwrights, the other two being Arthur Miller and Tennessee Williams.
