Newnan holding online auction of surplus property

The City of Newnan is currently auctioning off surplus property consisting of seven vehicles. Bids will be accepted online at www.publicsurplus.com until June 8 at 3 p.m. All items are sold “as-is, where-is” and no warranty is implied or expressed by the City of Newnan. 

The successful bidder is responsible for pick-up of the vehicle(s) once payment is made. The vehicles may be inspected at the City Shop located at 55 Boone Drive in Newnan from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily until June 8.   Read More»

Newnan man pleads guilty in prescription drug ring

Newnan resident Terry Randy Wallace pleaded guilty in federal court May 11 to conspiring with nearly a dozen others to possess and distribute the prescription drug oxycodone. The case is related to another involving 27 year-old Marietta resident Kristen Noelle Goduto and an alleged drug ring, the Goduto organization, that forged prescriptions for oxycodone and sold the drug across north Georgia from Blue Ridge to McDonough. Thanks for WWII Heritage days

On behalf of the history teachers of the Coweta-Fayette County area, we are most thankful to the men and women of the Dixie Wing Commemorative Air Force for hosting WW II Heritage Days at Falcon Field.

The planes, vehicles, WW II re-enactors, displays, and the entire atmosphere was a fantastic hands-on history experience that goes far beyond what a student would ever encounter in a classroom.

Above and beyond that were the WW II veterans that were able to share first-hand experiences with the public. I particularly enjoyed speaking with Mr. Ron Mooney, a Pearl Harbor survivor. Read More»

Newnan man arrested for child molestation

A 22 year-old Newnan man was arrested April 8 on multiple charges relating to the molestation of a six year-old Newnan boy.

Brandon Michael Murphy of Berry Avenue was charged with aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation, kidnapping and enticing a minor for indecent purposes, according to Newnan Police Department records. Read More»
