'Always...Patsy Cline' comes to Newnan this weekend

The Wadsworth Auditorium in historic downtown Newnan will be really “swinging” as it hosts an independent production of “Always…..Patsy Cline” Nov. 1-4. This presentation, produced by The 4 Friends Project, showcases the Ted Swindley show about Patsy Cline and her relationship with one devoted fan. The 4 Friends Project (Ed and Patty Richardson of Peachtree City and Susan and Charlie Gillespie of Newnan) is a new production company formed by these four friends who are dedicated to the development of quality entertainment on the Southside of Atlanta. Annie Iris Browning Bullard, age 84

Mrs. Annie Iris Browning Bullard

Mrs. Annie Iris Browning Bullard passed gently away on the morning of Oct. 29, 2012 at the age of 84 years.

She was born on April 15, 1928 in Laurens County, Ga.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Isaac Browning and Annie Herndon Browning, her brother, James Waitus Browning and her husband of 53 years, Winston O. "Rusty" Bullard.

Coweta pot bust yields money, weapons

An Oct. 12 bust in Newnan yielded approximately eight pounds of marijuana, nearly $20,000 in cash and a number of weapons.

Newnan residents Christopher Smith, 22, and Brittney-Lee Orourke, 19, were charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, according to Coweta County Jail records. Read More»

Fundraiser spotlights arthritis awareness

Backstage conversations about NTC's 'Seussical'

The set and costumes are complete, the choreography is in place, and all is set to bring “Seussical” to the Newnan Theatre Company stage. “Seussical,” a musical by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, opens at NTC at 8 p.m. on August 30.

The show debuted on Broadway in 2000 and has been a favorite with children and regional theaters ever since.

Mr. Lewis Doyle Griggs, age 75, of Newnan, passed away at his home on August 7, 2012. He was born in Fayette County on November 14, 1936 to the late James Lewis Griggs and Estelle Parrott Griggs.

Doyle is survived by his wife, Harriette Padgett Griggs; children, Gary Lewis Griggs, Gayla Griggs Agrifolio and Greta Griggs Hannah (Darrell); grandchildren, Joshua Aaron Hannah, Courtney Lauren Hannah and Brooke Nicole Wayman; niece, Jennifer Thomas Hopper (Jon) and great nieces, Emma and Ella Hopper. Mrs. Etha Cook, age 85, of Newnan passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2012.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hulan Cook and is survived by her daughter, Debbie Marjenhoff and husband, Buddy of Newnan; sister, Carolyn Welch of Newnan; grandchildren, Brian Simmons, Greg Simmons, Andrew Marjenhoff, all of Newnan; 3 great grandchildren.
