Service of Remembrance set for Thursday

The springtime Service of Remembrance sponsored by Healthfield Hospice will be held on March 17, at 6 p.m. in St. Paul Episcopal Church, 576 Roscoe Road (Highway 70) in Newnan.

The Church is located less than one mile from the Bypass West intersection with Highway 70.

Families whose loved ones have completed their earthly journey during the past year are invited to share in this special time of remembrance. The service includes music and a special time for each person who is being remembered.

Spring is nearly here and the banjo and guitar picks were flying recently, along with a host of other instruments, as more than 30 area residents gave an impromptu performance at Pickin’ on the Square in downtown Newnan.

President Theodore Roosevelt coming to Newnan

The Newnan-Coweta Historical Society will present “An Evening with President Teddy Roosevelt” as portrayed by Joe Wiegand. Roosevelt will appear at the Wadsworth Auditorium, 25 Jefferson Street in Newnan, on Thursday, Mar. 24 at 7 p.m. He will speak on his life and careers. Admission will be $5 (students $3). Valentine social set for Friday

The United Methodist Men of Cornerstone United Methodist Church on Ga. Highway 154 at Thomas Crossroads in Newnan will host a “Heart & Soul” Valentine social Friday, Feb. 11, from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. The event will feature the Live Big Band music of The Peachtree Jazz Edition with vocalist Toni Byrd.

Proceeds from the social will go to the Boy Scout program and Cornerstone UMC repair projects. Read More»

Squire Parsons will perform at New Lebanon in Newnan

New Lebanon Baptist Church will host Squire Parsons Live in Concert on Saturday, Feb 5, at 7 p.m.The concert is free. A love offering will be received.

A native of West Virginia, Parsons became the baritone singer for the Kingsmen Quartet in 1975 and in 1979 went into solo ministry.

Bruce and Jan Gossett of Peachtree City announce the engagement of their daughter, Jana Gossett, to Tyler York, son of David and Wanda York of Senoia.

The wedding will be March 19, 2011, at The Cathedral of Christ the King in Sharpsburg.

Following a honeymoon in Berlin, Germany and Prague, Czech Republic, the couple will reside in Newnan.
