Mrs. Williamson was a member of Cokes Chapel United Methodist Church.

She retired from Ga. Tech as a bookkeeper in the college book store.

Newnan theater seeking talent for slate of shows

NCTC is offering auditions for three new shows. “All experience levels are welcome,” said Artistic Director Paul Conroy. “If you think you’d like to be in a show, you should just take the chance and audition. You might win a part in a chorus or even a lead role.”

“We have a talented group of regular performers,” added Conroy. “At the same time, we’re always looking for new faces. It’s good to have as wide a pool as possible to cast your net.” Read More»

NCTC offers 2012 Youth Theatre Workshops

Newnan Community Theatre Company is offering Youth Theatre Workshops January 7 through May 19,. The workshops are a series of Saturday morning and afternoon classes aimed at elementary and middle school students. Maj. Stephen Waldrop is spending yet another Christmas on duty away from his family, this time an ocean away with the U.S. Army in Africa.

“It’s the hardest thing of my life since I’ve had kids,” Waldrop said of what is about to be his fourth Christmas away from home. “I know what I’m doing here is worthwhile, being on active duty and being a part of something bigger than me. But it’s really hard, missing my kids, having seen them only for maybe four months out of four years.”

Distribution center brings 108 jobs to Newnan-Coweta

A company that makes sure you get your fast-food orders filled at Chick-fil-A, Arby’s, Burger King and Captain D’s and your sit-down orders at Red Lobster and Olive Garden is setting up shop in the Coweta County Industrial Park, bringing 108 jobs to the Newnan area.

MBM Foodservice — one of the largest privately owned foodservice distributors in the nation, specializing in providing food to more than 25,000 nationally franchised restaurants — will spend $12.6 million to convert a spec building to its needs, according to a news release Thursday from the office of Gov. Applications for Newnan Christmas parade on Dec. 4 available on city website

The City of Newnan’s annual Christmas parade will be held Sunday, December 4, beginning at 3 p.m.  The parade begins at Temple Avenue Park and continues on Jackson Street and LaGrange Street to Newnan High School.  Sit down by the hearth and have some hot chocolate as this year’s theme is “Home for the Holidays”.  The parade will include floats, walking groups, decorated cars and trucks, and marching bands.  Read More»
