A call to arms

Throughout the history of this great nation there have times that “try men’s souls”. From the midnight ride of Paul Revere to the attack on Pearl Harbor Americans, have come to the aid of this nation in its time of need. We again face a time of great peril. As President Reagan once said “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.” Let there be no mistake about it, our freedoms are being threatened. Our greatest threat comes not from without but from within. It is time that citizens rise to the defense of our country and fight not with their bullets or knives, but with the most feared weapon of all, their vote.

2012 will be remembered as a turning point in American history. Either we can continue down the path we are on, a path that leads to decline and turmoil. Or we can stand up, like every generation before us, and protect the “land of the free and the home of the brave”. The choice is ours. If we want change then we cannot passively sit and wait for that change to come. We must demand that change. We must tell our president that his “hope and change” were a lie. We must send him back to Chicago. Send him back, and make it clear that his vision of the country is not our vision.

We cannot stop there, we must send Congress a message too. For too long they have sat idly by as our country has suffered. We are being crushed by a massive debt that Congress alone is responsible for. Both houses are to blame but the House of Representatives stands foremost at the heart of the problem. It is there that all spending bills originate. It is there that integrity is the scarcest of all resources. It is there that its members are so petty that they would rather walkout in protest than stand up and vote against a bill they opposed. 435 members that cannot get along; their kindergarten teachers would be ashamed. The Senate is not blameless. They have refused to vote on let alone pass a budget in 3 years. No budget means no direction and no direction leads the country nowhere good. Right now the Senate is set to vote on several treaties that our misguided President supports. Treaties that take away our rights and our national sovereignty. Treaties that would be considered an act of war at any other point in our history. It is time for us to declare that war on our politicians.

The citizenry has always come to the nation’s defense in the past; 2012 must not be an exception. Through the ballot box we can begin to change the direction of this country. It won’t be easy, it will take back bone, integrity, and leadership; but it can be done. It must be done, not only for ourselves but for the generations still to come. Our great experiment in democracy must not go down as a failure. Our children and grandchildren deserve to live in the greatest nation on earth, not read about it in a history book.

So, I ask you; will you come to our nation’s defense? Will you wave the banner of freedom for all your neighbors to see? Will you stand up and be counted or will you walk out on this country? It takes an informed citizenry taking an active role to change the course of our nation. A new day is on the horizon. Our nation is in danger; will you defend her?

2012 will be remembered as a turning point in History? No. It won't. 9/11 was a turning point. The Civil Rights era was a turning point. The end of WWII and Vietnam, those were turning points. Someone you don't like winning the presidency? Not a turning point. We've got to change the course of history by electing a rich white guy to office! That'll do it! We're going to make this country great by electing someone who basically invented Obamacare and did a number of "unamerican" things during his tenure at company that gutted business and ran them into the ground after exporting all their jobs to other countries. Sounds like a plan.

It would behoove you to tone it down. You're not getting voted out. Enough people in your district have been convinced to vote against things that would directly benefit them...but come on, we both know better, don't we?
