Stormwater Tip: Prevent Water Pollution from Household Hazardous Wastes
The average Georgia household can produce over 20 pounds of Hazardous Waste each year. These are items that, if not taken care of properly, can affect the welfare of our pets, households, and the streams and lakes we all enjoy. One way to eliminate pollution in washing our vehicles is to use a low or non-phosphate soap. Simply washing the vehicles in the grass instead of the driveway lets the chemicals be absorbed rather then running off down stream. Another helpful practice is landscaping with native plants that don’t need as much fertilizers to grow, preventing excess nutrients from causing adverse impacts in our streams. Please be an active part of pollution prevention in Peachtree City. For more information, visit www.cleanwatercampaign.com . Report a stormwater drainage issues at www.peachtree-city.org/drainage .

Harbor Loop – This week, Harbor Loop (Fishers Bank neighborhood in Glenloch Village) will be closed to through traffic for a stormwater pipe replacement. The work will begin on Wednesday, November 17, and is expected to be completed on Friday, November 19.

Meals on Wheels needs help for Project Love Holiday Meal Campaign
Each year, Fayette Senior Services (FSS) delivers more than 40,000 meals to homebound senior citizens through its Meals On Wheels program. Many of Fayette County's seniors live alone and have health conditions or have very limited incomes, which makes preparing a nutritious meal a real challenge. The general funding FSS receives for the Meals On Wheels program only covers the cost of weekly meals. The Project Love Holiday Meal Campaign will help to ensure that hundreds of homebound seniors will experience the comfort and joy of having a good nutritious meal on holidays throughout the year. Learn more and download a sponsor form at www.fayss.org/PDFs/projectlove2010.pdf .

The City of Peachtree City is helping the Marine Corps Reserve collect Toys for Tots this holiday season. Bring a new, unwrapped toy to City Hall, the Library, any Peachtree City Fire Station, Kedron Fieldhouse & Aquatic Center, the Recreation Administration Offices, The Gathering Place, and the Peachtree City Visitors Center to help make the holidays special for needy children in the community.
