Let’s go bowling in PTC

A long-standing request of quite a few Peachtree City residents may soon become a reality. A developer has approached the city about locating a bowling alley at the former site of Nature’s Nursery on Ga. Highway 74, located between south Kedron Drive and Wisdom Road.

Mayor Don Haddix briefed the Development Authority of Peachtree City on the proposal Monday night. He said the developer owns two other bowling alleys in Gwinnett County and plans to have a 36,000-square-foot building.

One hang-up that has to be addressed is the drawings for the site which show the building sticking out about 20 feet farther in one direction than allowed by city ordinance, Haddix said. The mayor said he thought that fix could happen easily by moving the snack bar and pro shop from one end of the building to another location.

“I’ve heard a lot of, ‘I want a bowling alley,’” Haddix said. “So I want a bowling alley.”

DAPC’s Mark Hollums noted that he previously has spoken with the Brunswick corporation about other potential bowling alley sites, including at one time the “baby Kroger” site that will soon host the Fresh Market grocery store.

It was noted that the police department was asked to determine if bowling alleys might attract crime, but the research determined that isn’t a worry.

Bowling? The Movie Theater Folded......

I'm not so sure a bowling alley would go over well. We had a movie theater that was mainly used by people not living in this area, they trashed the place, and then it closed leaving the building empty for years. I'd hate for that to happen again. IF, and I do mean if a bowling alley was built in PTC, I feel it would be better utilized on the south side of the city where more growth has taken place. Another option would be to put it near the 'Peachtree City Sam’s Club' in Coweta county where a theater is to open.

How About Bikini Jello Rasslin' PTCO?

Hey PTCO, rather than a bowling alley, what about government staying out of the business of folks that want to open a bikini-gal jello wrestling establishment that serves untaxed moonshine? This is where libertarianism leads you, and worse. Get Real.

Haddix: Bowling

The bowling alleys in Newnan and Fayetteville are doing excellent business. It is actually hard to get a lane for open bowling after work. As well the crime stats and other issues associated with them show they are no problem.

There is a fit issue on the site currently looked at and other sites have been proposed and are being looked at.

Theaters are a whole other issue. They do present big problems and the one in PTC is now long gone with Carabba's built in its place.

Even the PD wants them here. Yes, they have at least one bowling team.

Hope that helps.

Bowling alley in PTC

I do not believe that a bowling alley would be too urbane for PTC. Get 'er done Don.

Bowling. Cool. Let's get it done.

A 20 foot problem should not keep us from the bowling experience. I love bowling and in a retro sort of way I think it will be a huge home run in PTC. I do know my 25 year-old will come home more often for that. As long as they serve beer and have some Fabreze or Lysol for the bowling shoes - sign me up. I'll go every week.

O PLEASE CAN IT OPEN TOMORROW

My son in his brand new Jag will have somewhere to hang, plus my daughter and all her girls with their Mercedes. O and can we open a snack bar and sell beer and wine? O O O, better yet, let's try the attached full bar juke box thingie like Newnan did, parents can drink, kids can bowl, how exciting, that sure never drew any problems. Gee the kids use to have birthday parties at the Bowling/Bar location. Not to worry...... the thing that ran the last bowling alley, skate rink and movie theater out of town will happen again, three fold. Wow not to speak of how much money it will bring in. So much better than Big Box stores. Great Location I can't wait! We can store away the gas golf cart and they won't have to hang at Target, I can go anywhere and they will be taken care of. Please send out a survey of how many Peachtree City residents bowl and will actually be there for bowling (that's adults I mean). Happy Holidays

Hey Pumpkin

Bowling alleys don't make any money from bowling fees----it is all from throwing parties and selling popcorn and pop!

Works just like Realtors----con people into taking a course in selling houses for a FEE when there are no houses selling!
In other words "teach pyramid building Egypt for a fee" when no pyramids are being financed!

Hey. don't worry. We ain't never, nor will we ever do anything for the kids in this town except furnish great big athletic fields which 80% aren't much interested in.

Do you consider much?
You people who always are wanting to know exact names of everyone so you can harrass them personally, intrigues me.
Aren't you also "David's Mom?"

Hey, If you were considering it, the answer is no

Courthouserules is the former Bonkers aka Mike Amos of Group VI.

Pumpkin is and always has been Robin Lorber.

They are both much smarter than the image they choose to project on here, but that is their choice and I respect that. And Pumpkin is a really hot babe and I really, really respect that.

You mixed my name in there with Pumpkinsbonker, a Mike Amos and a Lorber!

None of which are hot babes as you say.

If anyone is mixed up it appears you just won the goblet or the grail as the winner.

Isn't that what cowboys earned in the 1800s, dollar a day and found? If it rained, they could sit under a tarp!
What has that to do with bonkers and bpr and muddle?

Did you read today where Jesus is returning May 21st, and the world will end later next fall? Is that the same church that is going to attend Mrs. Edwards funeral today and call them all murderers that have ever been soldiers, or who speak well of homosexuals?

They said she lost her son to a car hitting him, and got sick due to something, but I can't imagine what she did! Maybe it was Al?

Maybe The Most Reverend Saint and Disciple and Prognostigator, BBBa, MMaa, RD, PhR, will also go. He has squared away his troubles by paying of the boys (gradually), providing they will remain totally silent.
Is that legal?

How did we get on religion?

Well actually Court....

I'm more concerned about the FAA and its inept ability to keep accurate records of aircraft ownership.

Ownership of all planes isn't hard to determine now.

It just can't be done reliably by reading the tail code!

If I were a terorist or a dope hauler and had a plane, I would use the code off your plane on mine, assuming you had one. Or anyone I see at the airport.

It is stupid to have such an id method.

It could however be more important I guess than next May, 21st.

Mom, Oh, that's nothing

I just read that Jesus will return next May, 21, 2011. and the world will end shortly thereafter in the fall--September, I think he said.

All this talk about balancing budgets is a total waste of time in that no budget will be needed soon. I'm not making fun here, I read it and you can also, just google Jesus' return next May.

A Sonnet to the End

Here it is December 2010, cold outside.
May 21, 2011 around the corner, spring!
The ocean may change in May of the tide.
And from the four corners trumpets ring.

The man says those of impure thought,
Will of course just die and be no more.
But those chosen early will be bought.
There is no Hell, he says, may be lore!

The weather will pound without any end,
The earth shakes greatly without let-up.
The skies thump and flash, will not bend.
There are those still looking for the cup.

I look for the fellow who predicts date,
But sitting not where I thought he might rate!

Nope it was painted on both of them. My second airplane landed in the ocean off of Newport Beach, CA - they were taking pictures of sailboats but got just a little too close to the water. Both guys got out and that little bird took a permanent bath.

It's the first airplane that I'm wondering about. I think it was parted out in pieces; but, I'm not certain.

I thank you. I now fully understand something I missed.
The tail id goes with the plane and at the same time a new registration of owner to the FAA.
If they were efficient, they would at least have those honest people id'd, but I'm afraid people sell, lend, lease, steal planes and do illegal stuff with them.

A new way of id ing a plane in the air is needed.

With so much concern regarding 'security' and the drug cartel - am I wrong to be concerned?

Oops - I didn't see Court's comment.
