Southside Theatre Guild in Fairburn is presenting “Christmas Gift,” Thursday through Sunday, Dec. 8-11. Performances are 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The show, written by David Thomas with music and lyrics from Patrick Hutchison, is adapted from the book “Christmas Gift” by author and Fayette County resident Dr. Ferrol Sams, Jr.

The play, set in 1975, is performed in narrative form. The style is that of chamber theatre with the actors telling the story to the audience. At times the four main characters (Sambo aka Dr. Ferrol Sams and his three sisters, Jimme Kate, Janice and Sarah) become other characters for the Sams’ family and friends as well as the other themselves at various stages of their lives.

Tickets for children, ages 12 and under, are $8. Prices for adults for the first weekend are $16 in advance and $17.50 at the door.
