Armed gunmen rob delivery truck in F’ville Thursday

Fayetteville Police are searching for two men who robbed a food delivery truck attendant at gunpoint behind a restaurant at 913 N. Glynn Street Thursday afternoon.

The driver was inside the restaurant when two black males approached the driver’s assistant who was sitting inside the truck, Fayetteville Police spokesperson Mike Whitlow said. One of the men stepped up onto the truck, pointed a handgun at the assistant and demanded money, Whitlow said.

When the assistant said he had no money, the man reached into the cab and grabbed a backpack. With the stolen backpack in hand, the two men fled southwest in the direction of Jeff Davis Place, said Whitlow.

Whitlow said the driver’s assistant reported that the backpack contained approximately $4,000 in cash.

Both of the robbers were described as being approximately six feet in height with dreadlocks, with one wearing a black shirt and the other wearing a red shirt and blue jean shorts.

Anyone with information relating to the robbery is asked to contact Det. Melissa Peacock at 770-719-4227.

you guys obviously have no

you guys obviously have no clue how this works. many businesses especially asian owned pay for everything with cash. it is extremely common for liquor stores.. most budweiser trucks even have safes in the floorboard. $4,000 could have easily been just that one food order.

I performed this kind of work

I performed this kind of work for 4 years in 80s for a large regional company. In spite of not collecting any $ for deliveries, we still had drivers held up by desperados. Once the bad guys locked the drivers in the freezer...fortunately they managed to escape and then tender their resignation because that was the 3rd time in 6 months. This instance is more on the inside job/crime of opportunity. Any company that uses its drivers as collection agents is putting them at risk. As for these two creeps, it doesn't matter where they are from or where the crime was committed. Nor what their background is, or their race or any other characteristic. They are and always will be predators. These are the human type who prey on the weak or vulnerable. The kind that needs to be put away for a very long time. No plea bargain, no time off for good behavior. They knew what they were doing and that it was wrong and socially unacceptable and should be swiftly and vigorously punished.

bulrush or papyrus or reed, or whatever

Would you also put away for a very long time with no plea bargain, no time off for good behavior, and swiftly and vigorously punish Judges who make love to courtesans, pinch lawyers of the female type, and tongue others vigorously?

Also Bankers and developers who screw their stockholders and don't pay their bills to suppliers?

Or, are you not afraid of these latter people?

The restaurant at 913 N. Glynn street...

You gave us the type of business and the address of the business but not the name? Is "China Cafe #8" some sort of state secret?

Thugs from Riverdale (most likely)

I bet they were last seen going north on 85 or 314.

On another note, there needs to be a gate at the Pavillion to keep thugs out and when someone is shot or someone get something stolen an alarm is sounded and the gates shut.

Scum, absolute scum!

Kind of Fishy

Ok the assistant was sitting in the truck and said I dont have any money. They reached in and grabbed the backpack which was full of money. Sounds kind of like the robbers knew that backpack had the money. Why else would they grab it. Somebody told.

Cash Business

Many years ago it was standard for delivery truck drivers to collect cash for what was owed on the delivery. No checks or credit cards.
No put it on my account.

I had assumed that in recent years with all the crime out there that way of doing business had ceased. Guess not.

With businesses flipping and flopping nowadays, if they can't pay you for a delivery maybe it is better to drive on. They aren't banks.

Armed gunmen rob delivery truck in F’ville Thursday

If these clowns are caught, bet we'll find their from a surrounding county. Fayette county is seeing more and more criminals come into our community to committ crimes against our citizens.

I doubt the truck driver or delivery company were Fayette Citizens!
Probably not the restaurant employees either.

Citizens are citizens no matter from what Community they come!

Maybe our police are weaker than other communities or trucks have more cash on hand!

ganja bag?

People seem surprised that a delivery man carries $4,000 worth of product, which must have been more if he already had collected that much.

It does look suspicious though. Maybe the delivery company is going broke and needed some insurance money.
If so, then the delivery guys would almost have to be in on it, or at least someone else at the company.

There must have been a lot of checks in that bag if it was $4,000.

Many food products could amount to $4000 quickly though.
A hundred pounds of steak could be 6-700 hundred dollars alone!

Good seafood even more.

If he visited numerous stores--well there you are--a possibility.

If I were a detective I would want to see his route sheet and compare to the bag money!
Do we have any good detectives?

I'm was hoping

the 4k in the bag was used legitimately by the businesses buying from the delivery truck. However, the 2 male thieves, I'm sure, weren't going to use it to go to Publix to buy a 2 subs and a big bag of chips. With courhouserules on the case, I reckon he'll have this solved by the end of the week. Or, maybe he IS the case.
