Holyfield mansion, Fayette’s largest, on the auction block

Fayette’s largest home is up for auction. The mansion that was once the residence of heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield will go on auction in mid-November and carries a starting bid of $2.5 million.

The one-of-a-kind home — at more than 48,000 sq. ft. on nearly 105 acres along Ga. 279 in north Fayette County — looks more like a palace than a house. It was listed on Redfin.com with an asking price of $7.9 million. But now at auction, the residential behemoth requires an opening bid of only $2.5 million.

The 48,327 sq. ft. home situated on 104.7 acres on Hwy. 279 near Ga. Highway 138 was constructed in 1994. The property went to foreclosure last year.

Auction.com lists the accommodations as including 12 bedrooms, 13 full baths, 8 half baths, 5 family rooms, a formal dining room that seats more than 100, a library and office, a 4,500 sq. ft. guest house, a 7-stall barn, an indoor bowling alley, handball court, lap pool, movie theater, boxing gym, recording studio and one of the largest private pools in the United States.

Anyone interested in bidding at auction.com can do so online from Nov. 11-13.

Valerie Jarrett may be looking for a new house soon.

New job as well, probably not in healthcare given her zealous promotion of Obamacare and her insistence that it be rolled out before it was ready. This diva has been running the country from behind the scenes with no real accountability at all. Now, finally, the chickens are going to come home to roost on her ample ego .BamO won't do a thing about her - she's a bro', don't ja know.

Anyhow Valerie, why not decide to spend more time with your family and get the Evander manse for $2mil after the Feds foreclose on it and the bank and sell it under extreme duress. Bam can come play BBall in the gym. Bowl in the basement.

Holyfield

The end of an era for Fayette county, a great athlete that had poor judgment in "friends", business and women. Requiem for a heavyweight.

Good Neighbors

Holyfields 4th of July Party, catered by This Is It was open to all. His pool was used by the school students whose facility was across the street from his home. His neighbors respected his privacy. Unfortunately he did not have the business acumen of George Foreman.

Really? You didn't get an invitation? LOL I never met the man but he was one of my favorite athletes at one time. Having said that I'm not sure I remember him doing much for the community though.

Nope, not one invite

Yes, at one time one of the best at his profession. When we have visitors, I sometimes drive home from the airport this way to show them his former estate.

I said it once before, that the county should have tried to push Pinewood to select his estate.
