Flooding reported in PTC

Flash flood warning issued; PTC got 2 inches of rain in 1 hour

UPDATE: 4:30 p.m. The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Fayette County and east Coweta County for the next several hours, as the rainwater is expected to cause flooding of small creeks and streams as well as larger ones. This warning will expire at 10:30 p.m.

In its 4:30 p.m. report, NWS reported that areas of Peachtree City received two inches of rain in the previous area. Another two inches of rain is possible before the rainstorms move out around 7 p.m. tonight, according to forecasters.

Several city streets are flooded to the point where they are impassable as of 4 p.m. today, police reported in a survey of the city.

McIntosh Trail was overcome by rain water sending the banks of Lake Peachtree over the road at the spillway, it was reported. Significant flooding was reported at 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Robinson Road and Peachtree Parkway.

Other low-lying streets are particularly susceptible, as streets in the area of Fischers Luck and Harbor Loop were covered by a significant amount of water, officers reported. Another flooded street was Robinson Road near Crosstown Drive, but one lane was deemed passable enough.

The condominiums at Tinsley Mill will be kept under close watch in coming hours, as the area experiences severe flooding during the heaviest rainstorms. But as of 4:15 p.m. the condominums were OK, officials said.

In Fayetteville, officers were dealing with utility lines down across Grady Avenue near Ga. Highway 85.

Sinkhole in Center Green

Called 911 twice about a large sinkhole close to my home in Center Green, alongside a heavily-used golfcart path. No one has come to rope it off, at least. It's pretty large---could fit a golfcart or small car--and continues to cave in. PTC police, where are you? It's a big hazard.

Not the police's job to deal with sinkholes

Try Public Works.

Yes, Public Works is now here. They drove by last night, but got my address wrong. I left a phone number . . . why didn't they call? Plus I saw them drive by last night, but no one got out of their truck to investigate.

Yes, thank you but they say they've called Public Works. Does someone have to get injured before it's assessed?

Peachy And The Problem With Progressives

Progressives like Peachy are completely paralyzed without government intervention! Why is it the government's job to keep you, your kids, or pets from falling down a hole! Next I guess you will want government workers to keep you from slipping in the bathtub! It is not government's job to protect you from yourself! You and your neighbors should band together to fill in that hole if it is such a danger! Why should taxpayers have to fund the cleanup up of your personal problems!?? You have obviously been mentally damaged by programs enacted by LBJ, Carter, Clinton, and Obama! Time to wake up and take responsibility for your own life! The late great Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest would never have demanded the government fill in any holes on his battle grounds!

BTW, do you think the Braves can hold on to win the NL wildcard?

Thank you for your time,

Normally with any other major league team I would say yes they will win the wild card with a 2 game lead and 6 to play, but this is the Braves this year-----inconsistent as a night crawler

St. Louis will wing four of their six games, Braves could lose them all or at least four of six.

They thought they had it in the bag and didn't play "Billy Ball"----just home run ball.

Odds are still with them but that does not mean they will win the wild card. Maybe for the sake of baseball, they shouldn't. Does anyone think they can beat the Yankees, or even 2-3 of the American league teams?

Milwaukee would probably send them home.

They don't get enough runs to get to the 7th inning. Even Venters and the closer have worn out.

Maybe someone will say "those amazing Braves!"

peachy: big sink hole

Since no one will fill it up, why don't you spread some branches over it to hide it and catch some things in it? They do that all of the time in the Tarzan movies!

Don't put the spikes in the bottom though.

Peachy, Roundy is not glib. His elevator either does not go

all the way to the top or he has a very distorted view of what is humor.

Distorted, distorted?

Distortation is in the mind of the beholder!
Bush was distorted, and Cheney, and Rummy.

peachy-PD dispatch #

for future use after hours, when Public Works and the PD are closed. 770-461-4357
Are you signed up for email alerts from PTC? The PD put out an alert at 5:10PM last evening about the flooding and areas to avoid and where to call for help.

Of course, 911 is always available for emergencies.

My goodness we have quick sand, snakes, rats, and of course the 54/74 intersection that are hazards!

The cost of taxes and water run-off are hazardous to me!

Didn't 911 send an ambulance to fix it? Cops don't have shovels in their trunk, I don't think.

Also they won't call the Public Works department, only the Director can do that!

You should have called Mayor Haddix and there would have been someone there with lanterns to fill it.
