New photo: F’ville police seeking 2 robbers who fired shots at Walmart; nobody hurt

This man is also believed to have participated in the shooting incident. Anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of this man is asked to call Fayetteville police at 770-461-4441.

Two robbers fired two shots at a couple walking in the Walmart parking lot about 12:40 this (Friday) morning after demanding the couple’s wallet and purse, Fayetteville Police Detective Mike Whitlow said.

Neither was struck by the bullets nor otherwise hurt, and the robbers escaped in a maroon SUV with customized wheel rims, police said.

According to the news release from the department, “a black male wearing a blue shirt and blue hat armed with a handgun approached a couple walking in the parking lot of Wal-Mart, 125 Pavilion Parkway.

“The suspect demanded the victims’ wallet and purse. The victims were able to escape from the offender who fired two rounds at them not striking either victim or object in the parking lot.

“The suspect was accompanied by another black male 5-feet-11 to 6-feet, thin build, wearing a dark short sleeve shirt, dark pants, and a yellow and black hat.

“The suspects fled the scene in a maroon SUV with customized rims.

“Patrol officers and detectives canvassed the area for both witnesses and evidence.

“A reward will be offered for information leading to the arrest and convictions of person(s) responsible.

Anyone with information about these suspects or vehicle please contact the Fayetteville Police Department at 770-461-4441.”

2 Things. 1) Some of y'all

2 Things.

1) Some of y'all need to learn how to spot middle class people from poor skanky people. Those 2 in the photo above are clearly not middle class. They look like the scum on the bottom of the trash can.

2) Not all people of color are criminals. Just because a few people of color move in your neighborhood doesn't mean the community is going to hell. You should welcome diversity. Keep your rental and prop values high and it will keep out the riff raff worthless people.

Let's get it straight... i'm af-american and every time i see black saggy pant low life's in PTC i just shake my head and say... DARN i hope they don't live around here OH let me run back to the car and get my piece !!! LOL sad but true. However low-life's come in ALL colors.

We need to send a clear message that crime will not be tolerated in PTC.
Maybe we should adopt the Dublin, GA recently passed law. No saggy pants in PTC.

This is another reason why we all need to be armed

It would actually reduce the amount of crime. Do you think that if more people walked around while armed that these no good, piece of trash, cowardly thugs would take a chance?

Too bad one of the victims wasn't armed. Maybe one of these deadbeats would be worm food by now and no longer a threat to the innocent.

You don't want everyone armed

Somebody may get shot. But maybe the somebody would be the predator. Do you know that these useless smumbags actually like that word? It is like a promotion, I guess. But if a few of us who knew how to shoot to kill were armed - like my hubby with a 9mm and a mean-looking knife in his boot - I think we could cut down on this type of crime - 1 predator at a time.

I have a carry permit and am learning to shoot a smaller gun, but by November I will be carrying it everywhere and not to be messed with.

This is why I fought the construction of the Pavillion

......this is why we didn't need the Pavillion built. IT is NOT a safe place to go after dark and getting to the point it is not safe to go there in the daytime. Fayetteville...I mourn the loss of the family community you once were. You are simply an annex of Riverdale and it saddens me greatly. PTC, you are not far behind.

The Citizen - Cal, I don't get it?

Read the description of the two suspects and look at the guy in the picture. Something is very wrong here. What happened to the earlier picture of the suspect?

This is a very bad mistake.

We Fought The Pavilion

This incident is exactly the reason why a group of Fayette citizens passionately fought the construction of the Pavilion. Our county commissioners, at the time, said it would bring in revenue from surrounding counties and even further. They were right.

They said that we could implement a SPLOST and therefore the other counties would help pay for Fayette County road projects. They were right.

Our citizen's group said the Pavilion would bring in crime and violence from the surrounding and further counties. WE WERE RIGHT!

The Pavilion has digressed from a convenient place to shop to being a convenient place to die.

Fact is the whole county is changing and changing fast. Read Ben Nelms comments on the growth surrounding us regarding Fischer's Crossing.

If we care about the county we live in we must keep up the fight to keep "progress" under some type of control. We will need the backing of our elected representatives. Therefore, the next election you and your group should be questioning the candidates on where they stand on these things. You get the kind of government you deserve if you simply don't show up with a lot of friends at the poll and vote for the person that matches your desires.

As I said in an earlier post, these two kids will be caught. When they catch them they will find that they are from some middle class family. If you promote a "mobster" culture, you get mobsters. It's just that simple. Until parents demand that their children act in an appropriate way we will continue to get this type of incident. Parents stop defending your kids and start teaching them basic principles or they will just end up in jail.

"About 10.4% of the entire African-American male population in the United States aged 25 to 29 was incarcerated, by far the largest racial or ethnic group—by comparison, 2.4% of Hispanic men and 1.2% of white men in that same age group were incarcerated."

This is no accidental statistic. Given the progress in our police departments we can't simply blame all this on racisim.

"Progress" in Fayette

You can vote & elect whomever you want in 1 of the smallest (area) counties in GA. The sheriff can have 2 or 3 COPters that mostly seem useless. What you gonna do about the gorilla (Coweta) next door? They certainly have bought into the SPLOST money from the neighbors (Fayette, Heard, Troup, So. Fulton, Spalding, Pike, Merryweather), What ya gonna do? Fischer's Crossing, that McIntosh thangy on the other side of TDK. Wait until Senoia takes off w/ the sewer (denied by PTC). What really needs to addressed in this country is why does the USA HAVE the largest prison population? Why is there becoming a wider & wider gap in wealth? Why are people making min. wage ranting for tax shelters for millionaires? Something is wrong w/ this picture & it shore' ain't Obama.

Thanks Mikeyc. Somethings gotta change

Your gonna give me the Big Head. My observation on why the lower strati have lined up w/ the Repugs is: 1) Bought the kool-aid that if you work hard: you too can be a millionaire & growup to have tax problems {ie: Joe the Plumber]. 2) "THEY" are coming for the guns. "THEY" won't let us hunt w/ a$$ult rifles to make the odds even w/ overpopulated deer. 3) My gawd, "THEY" will appoint liberal judges that will allow women to have THEIR right to abort the spawn (meaning your wife & daughter) because someone is going to all these abortion clinics. Never mind Warren was a (R) Ike nominee & his successor a Nay but 5 Yeas (1 a Catholic R) were R's & 1 of the Nays was a liberal Dem. 4) More liberal thinking about individual rights, pesky 5th Amend,(Miranda) & making the Thin Blue Line's job harder (see Warren Court). 5) GAYS can marry? "Be just like me & my ole lady? No dude can be the beeach like I got." Judge Walker federal Duby Bush appointee. 5) "You boys go on & fight those /these wars, we gotta continue our ed. to lead you in the future" (or my Daddy wants me to fly jets & protect TX). Do it for Mom, Country, Apple Pie, a snappy tune.. just pleeze don't ever ask WHY? 6) & it goes on.

Neither of those dudes look like kids. The other post of the prison population, Can you break that down to non-violent crime in general & no violence drug offence? I believe that incarcerating non-violent minor drug offenders leads to a significant population that is unemployable. "Yeah, I did a 'dime' but I'm all rehabed now & they taught me some wonderful skills." So maybe they weren't out robbing for the drug money before because they actually had a job & functioned w/ their "addiction" and now they don't. Even RAYguns Sec of State Geo. Schutz says the WAR on DRUGS don't work. Talk about a gov't waste 'o money.
My other observation is that like all you Rambo/Clint/"Death Wish" types, he got off a couple of rounds & couldn't hit a target & YOU in that situation would have been just sending bullets flying. I doubt any of you in a combat situation could hit a barn.

I don't go to the Pavilion any more, especially at night.

But when I have to go, I'm always carrying self-protection in my pocket with my hand holding on to it.

Remember, the police will arrive in time to run the yellow tape, outline the body and call the Coroner.

They are alive!
I doubt they would be if they had started hunting a pistol out of their purse, and chose to stand there and shoot it out!

Get off the guns solve everything when they are always available.
I have guns but they are stored at home for use. Not at the Long Branch.

Yes, they are alive by an act of Providence or good fortune.

You are righ (albeit, I hesitate to admit it) that guns do not solve all ills. Just remember that there are those among us having had two rounds fired and missed, the Coroner would surely be required.

I fail to fully understand your last sentence!
I'm sure you have been fired at and probably had the ability to fire back with you. However, when you left government property on recreation, you weren't allowed to strap on the .45 were you, or was it a 9mm? In the copter I suppose a 30 0r 50? Or an automatic burper? It is difficult to tell most times in a warplane whether someone might have fired at you, I know! At the mall, we aren't at declared war yet!

Were your riders women with guns?

Just for you, but after reading you MUST go take your meds.

Out of some 309M souls inhabiting this fine country, even you must admit that there exists individuals among us that if fired upon twice and missed would insure the culprit a short life expectancy.

Self defense at a mall or anywhere else doesn't require a declaration of war.

Of all you guys who carry pistols into the local stores, etc., how many of you have actually saved yourself or anyone else from getting shot?

Can you name one?
It is just a meaningless threat to a desperate criminal who might think you also have a gun!

Do you get buzzed in stores with alarms at the door? No, you don't carry one there, do you? In the auto, I'd say.

I have a bazooka in my auto.

I don't see how those people kept from shooting one another!

Didn't see their holsters either! Did they use leg ties?

Wouldn't it be better if anyone who carried a gun was required to have it in plain view in a holster like Matt Dillon? Wouldn't go too well with a woman's cocktail dress nor kids "pants on the ground!"
Might throw some women with stiletto heels off balance, too.

It has been said that teacher's should wear guns to be able to kill an insane person who sticks their head in the door with a BAR, ready to spray the room. But since almost all teachers are women wouldn't that 9mm get heavy all day?
Maybe if the students also had say 7mm, on the outside of their back-packs or fanny-packs right by their desk, they could also all start firing!

CHR$, maybe they took lessons

If you’re going to carry a concealed weapon I STRONGLY, STRONGLY suggest that you take all the training you can get your hands on. If done correctly you’ll probably spend more on training then you’ll spend on the weapon itself.

Knowing how and knowing when NOT to use a weapon is something that requires discipline, training, practice and more training.

This incident at Walmart was terrible; thank your God that nobody was hurt. It could have been a lot worse had ‘Harry or Sally Homeowner’ pulled his/her weapon and started to return fire.

Remember, know your target, and know what’s BEHIND your target BEFORE you pull the trigger! Unless you’re 20 feet away, you’re probably going to miss on the first shot.

“Oops” is NOT a good excuse for accidentally killing someone!

Even cops go around shooting people or beating them with clubs and fists when they don't need to do so...TV full of it.

Can't you imagine what would happen all of the time if suddenly everyone was allowed to carry a gun? Kids, women, half-crazies, people with chips on their shoulder, old dudes, old women, wannabe cops, felons, drunks, dopers, people with gripes, on and on.

These people aren't going to ever train or if forced won't learn anything. They won't pay to practice either and all the rules in the world won't stop it.

I don't know how one can selectively say who can carry one...of course you would be perfectly safe carrying one, wouldn't you?

No and I hope I never have to save myself. I am prepared to do so though. I'm also prepared to put out a small fire in my house and change a flat tire on my car.

Perhaps you missed the part

Perhaps you missed the part about the robber firing twice? They were saved only by poor shooting, not by carrying a firearm or lack thereof.

Guns may or may not solve anything, but what would would-be robbers think were they safe in the assumption that any given victim in Fayette County was unarmed?

And while we are on the subject of criminal behavior, might someone at the Crosstown shopping center paint over the Los Vatos Locos gang tag that has adorned the brick wall near the cart path for months? I'm no detective, but a simple google search for "Peachtree City" and "vatos locos" might reveal a few proud members residing in town and claiming their allegiances on myspace.
