American Legion honors students going to service academies

Fayette County Post 105 of The American Legion has a long running program to recognize all graduating seniors from our county schools that have received appointments to the five military academies. Five recent graduates attended the May meeting of Post 105 and were honored for their selection as appointees as they prepare to depart soon for their respective academies.  Attending from McIntosh were Tim Sullivan, United States Naval Academy; Carl Eifert, United States Air Force Academy; Jacob Fountain, United States Military Academy at West Point; Libby Taylor, United States Air Force Academy and John Janigian, United States Military Academy at West Point . From Our Lady of Mercy was Tracy Daniels, United States Naval Academy. Photo/Special.

I wonder if they are 'Obama Scholars'.

Obama Scholars

A speaker leads students in a creepy chant of "I am an Obama Scholar!" at Lincoln Bassett Middle School in New Haven, Connecticut. The chant is part of an educational program called the "Obama Initiative."

You're unbalanced. Every student in the United States who achieves this year and is designated a Presidential Scholar receives a certificate signed by the President of the United States. (This year - President Obama) To take away from the pride and achievement of this community with your sick, snide remarks is a disservice to Fayette County. You may have 'followers' but I don't think they would attack the hard work and accomplishments of our students.

We have this kind on nonsense being “taught” in public schools on the taxpayer dime and you call me unbalanced? Did you watch the video?

A. The video doesn’t take away anything from the kids.
B. There was nothing sick about my remarks. The only sick thing I saw was the chant being taught to the students by the muslim in the turban.
C. I don’t expect anyone to “follow” me. That type of group-think is for liberals.

Kawfi - please keep posting

Thanks for sharing. No 'turban' wearing person in video. Chanting to strive for excellence is taught in all schools hopefully. There aren't many like you left in our country - hallelujah!! There are 'conservatives' who support instilling pride and positive goals in all young Americans. . .not just liberals. You might have felt more comfortable if the youngsters in the video were chanting hateful slogans and learning how to fire weapons. Hmmmmm. You will fail at 'undoing' our country.

What you incorrectly call a 'turban' is actually:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kufi

In West Africa, a kufi cap is the traditional hat for men, and is part of the national costume of most of the countries in the region. It is worn by Christians, Muslims, and African Jews. Many grandfathers and other older men wear a kufi everyday to symbolize their status as wise elders, religious people, or family patriarchs.

Good, better, best. Never let it rest 'til your good is the better and your better is the best!!

Kufi, Turban - Tomayto, Tomahto

So if being an "Obama Scholar" is a good thing, why do you describe my original post as "sick and snide"? It's all good. Just sayin'.
