Starr’s Mill Football Camp is today from 9 a.m to noon at Panther Stadium. The camp is for players in Grades two through eight. The camp will include: QB play/RB play/lineman skills/linebacker and defensive back skills. Proper mechanics and speed enhancing drills will be taught. Camp will be instructed by all varsity football coaches. Participants will be divided into small groups to increase the improvement opportunities. Participants should bring cleats, sneakers and water. The cost is $80/player if registered by May 31 and $90/player for walk up registration. To register, fill out the form provided on The Community School website at www.fayettecs.org. Participants can either mail a money order or cashiers check to The Fayette Community School. Or, pay in person with cash or credit card between 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday or 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Fridays. Once school is out for summer, please view their website for new office hours. They do not accept checks. If you have questions about payment, please call their office at 770-460-3990, ext. 470. No refunds once camp has begun.

The National Association of Purchasing Management-West GA affiliate  meets today at 5:45 p.m. The meeting is at  the Hilton Garden Inn in Peachtree City. Networking runs from 5:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., dinner is at 6:15  p.m. and the program starts at 6:45 p.m. Guest speaker is Lisa Williams of On-Site Computer Training and her topic will be “New Tools & Office Technologies.” Cost is $20 for non-members. The 4th annual Historic Senoia Bicycle Tour is today. This easy 3-hour bicycle tour of historic Senoia is for bicyclists of all ages and abilities. The tour is great for people interested in the history of the area, interesting architecture, tales of residents past and present, and the sites where such films and TV episodes have been shot as “Fried GreenTomatoes,” “The War,” “Andersonville” and “The Walking Dead.”
The tour starts at 9 a.m.  It will begin and end at the Senoia Area Historical Societyheadquarters and museum at 6 Couch Street, where riders will have the opportunity to view a brief history of the town and images of some of Senoia’s key citizens and structures from the past, then ride through the Senoia Historic District, making stops in front of homes and churches.  Afterward, enjoy light refreshments and a chance to win a door prize and take a walk through time. Recommended donations are $15 for adults and $10 for children under 13.  All proceeds benefit the Senoia Area Historical Society.  Donations are tax deductible.  Helmets are required.  Due to frequent stops, walkable cycling shoes are recommended.

The World Class Rockers will take the stage at The Fred Amphitheater tonight. Featuring former members of rock super-groups, Aynsley Dunbar (Journey), Michael Monarch & Nick St. Nicholas (Steppenwolf), Fran Cosmo (Boston), Greg Walker (Santana), Randall Hall (Lynyrd Skynyrd), the group combines the talents of some of the most prominent musicians to ever grace the stage. The group has toured the world bringing audiences to their feet with electrifying performances of legendary hits “More Than a Feeling”, “Don’t Stop Believin”, “Born To Be Wild”,  “Separate Ways”, “Black Magic Woman”, “Sweet Home Alabama”, “Magic Carpet Ride”, “Anyway You Want It”, “Peace of Mind”, “Evil Ways”, “Free Bird” and many more. The band will be incorporating a select group of local musicians selected by the Fred staff from the community to perform two songs onstage with the band during the show. This lucky group of musicians will also be attending Fantasy Camp with the rockers during the day, sharing lunch and some great musical tips. Limited reserved tickets are still available for the show, and prices range from $50-$55 for reserved seating. All gold, terrace and picnic tables are sold out as well as lawn seating. Dr. James Tabor who will present two separate lectures, one at 2 p.m. and one at 7 p.m. at City Hall in Peachtree City. Tabor is chair of the Department of Religious Studies and professor of Christian origins and ancient Judaism at the UNC Charlotte.The 2 p.m. lecture is titled, “The Texts and the Stones: The Seven Greatest Archaeological Discoveries that Shed Light on the Historical Jesus.”

County Administrator Steve Rapson, the Fayette County Public Library  and Friends of the Fayette County Public Library will present  the first annual  “Fayette: Face to Face”, a public forum for  discussion and networking to promote resource sharing throughout the community. The 27 departments of the Fayette County Government will be present to engage the community in questions and answers. Peachtree City’s parade honoring Peachtree City’s Vietnam Veterans is today at 9 a.m. In honor of the 40th Anniversary of the last combat troops leaving Vietnam in 1973, Peachtree City’s July 4th Parade this year features a special tribute to our Vietnam veterans.  If you have a Vietnam Veteran in your family and would like to enter a decorated golf cart for them to ride in on the 4th, please note that this is for a Vietnam Veteran when you register.  All carts for Vietnam Veterans will be grouped together at the start of the parade. If you are a Peachtree City resident who served in Vietnam and do not have a cart available but would like to participate, please email info@peachtree-city.org.
