Cornelia Campbell Pruett Reeves, passed away Sunday evening April 28, 2013 at her home. Born June 17, 1932 in rural Lamar County, TX, Cornelia Campbell was called “Coolie” by her family and friends all her life. Mrs. Reeves was an energetic woman who jumped whole heartedly into anything she undertook. She was a successful gardener, canning her tomatoes and beans each summer. Coolie and her long time gentleman friend, Tom Williams, danced well together.

She had a genius for making and keeping friends, mailing Christmas cards to hundreds of people all across the country. No email for Coolie: she wanted to hear your voice or see you to stay in touch. Coolie was a fixture on Jeff Davis Drive, walking her daily miles with Juanita Porter, her neighbor, shopping buddy and confidant.

A graduate of East Texas State University, Coolie taught third grade in Austin, TX. After her first husband Joe Pruett was hired by Eastern Airlines, the family moved to College Park. In 1978 she and Joe along with four other Eastern couples developed an aviation (fly in) community Eagles Landing in Pike County. After Joe’s death Coolie resided at Eagles Landing until 1989 at which time she moved to Carriage Chase in Fayetteville.

For many years, Coolie organized the Christmas luminaira display on her street and also assisted with decorating the Carriage Chase entrance each Christmas. She was a longtime active member of the College Park First United Methodist Church, Coolie contributed in many areas of church life. She taught middle school students, served in numerous offices and on the Altar Guild. While ushering at College Park UMC she met Fred Reeves and fell in love. They married in September 1991 and enjoyed an active life until his death. Fred contributed more children and grandchildren to Coolies family. She was a wonderful cook, energetic hostess and traveling companion.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Joe F. Pruett, second husband Fred Reeves and her parents Chester and Mae Pearl Campbell. She is survived by her daughter Patti and her husband Earl Morrow of Williamson; son Joe F. Pruett II and his companion Myra Alexander of Watkinsville; grandchildren Christopher Morrow (Dyan) of Fayetteville, Elizabeth Norris (Walton) of Decatur, Callie Sanders (Alan) of Tucker and Sara Giles (Ernie) of Roswell; great-grandchildren Brooks Norris and Freddie Sanders; brother Steve Campbell (Janet) of Issaquah, WA; nieces Peggy Campbell and Gwen Spencer; nephews Brian Campbell and Martin Campbell and their spouses, children and grandchildren; beloved friend and companion Thomas L. Williams of Tucker and St. Simons.

Her funeral service will be held Friday, May 3, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the College Park First United Methodist Church, College Park. The Reverend Vicki Smith will officiate. Burial will be take place at a later date at Forest Chapel Cemetery, Chicota, TX. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, Fayetteville.
